NSR: The Last Full Measure

This 2019 movie has somewhat of a local connection for me.
The young man is from a nearby town, his award was presented at a local museum, and he was a medic. (an Air Force pararescue airman - a P.J.)

The movie is flawed a bit - as they seemed to be working with a limited budget - but the telling of this young man's service and sacrifice in 1966 in Vietnam is worth the ride, I think.

They used the wrong helicopter, and seemed to be filming in maybe West Virginia - and that old hippie Peter Fonda portrayed a Vietnam veteran (!!) All is forgiven, though, as it may have been Fonda's last movie role.

In 2000,  William H. Pitsenbarger's parents were presented with his Medal of Honor at the U.S. AirForce Museum at Wright-Patterson, near Dayton, Ohio.
And this movie was screened for special invitees at the Museum's theatre last year, and there is a display in the Vietnam War section of the Museum.

I was able to check the movie out of our local library this w/e..

PS: a pararescue airman is much, much more than a medic. P.J.'s receive a lot more training than a simple Army medic.

Good post, Tom. We dumped USAF Paramedic-jumpers for training in '91 at Horack Field, Elberta, AL when I was flying-maintaining the Helio Stallion single engine turboprop. They gave us a rundown of SOME of the stuff they continually trained! Was lengthy! They had an all up jump weight over 300 pounds because of all the stuff they bailed with! It was "cost effective" to hire a civilian plane to train small groups than to use Air Force aircraft and crews! Cost effective = cheaper & quicker!
