2021 Royal Alloy anyone?
« on: November 17, 2020, 09:55:27 PM »
Anyone ride one of these yet?
I was just surfing a friendly scooter dealer in TX (Moxiescooters) who helped me get some Kymco crash bars for my LIKE200i years ago - and came across these....

Twin discs, pretty cool adjustable front shocks, Rust-Belt friendly Thai metal body panels from the good folks at ONG GAKAPANTHONGCHONBURI, no EFI, but LED indicators......and a fine set of TIMSUN tires....

I like the idea of it with the Sym designed engine and a very Lambretta like front suspension. I don't understand the carbureted engine at this point in time unless the price point required it. Good looking metal body and paint scheme altogether a nice package. I had a high school friend who owned a Lambretta LI 150 which I got to ride many times. In my opinion it was superior to the Vespa due to the centrally placed engine and longer wheel base.

Seen them on ebay for $2900. don't know anything about them. Unless they have good parts supply and support I would be leary of purchasing one.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

See one in daily use by one of the staff at my local supermarket. Never yet got to speak to him/her.

I own a Lambretta uno 150. It's made by a Taiwan company Herchee. Same bike is sold as a Adly as well.  A importer has brought both to the US for a very short time then no more.  The scooter is a good machine and well made but parts and support are non-existent.  Any machine that’s not brought in with proper support I would be reluctant to own .

Look how large Kymco is in the US and still mediocre support but it's there.  That's where Honda, Yamaha Suzuki and Kawasaki shine their parts and support are very good. Also look at resell, the major names  are household brands and resell reflects this. The majority of the public does not know the difference between a Taiwanese and Chinese scooter.  Even the Kymco  ad's  on Craigslist most state (not a cheap Chinese scooter).

The fact the general public lacks knowledge about Kymco has worked in my favor for purchasing used machines at bargin prices. That's why I would be reluctant to purchase any machine that’s not been in the country for a while with a support network.

I see quite a lot of these in the UK now but know nothing about them. If they are in indeed Sym-based that's a good mark of quality in my book :)

I agree quality may be there. Do they have a dealer network in the UK?  Like my above post on the Herchee a good quality machine just no support.

As I really use scooter I need strong dealer network.   Same mistake when Daelim from Korea came to US---crappy importer, few if any dealers in US, Wonderful product, had a new one in Korea---did not break in hard service, dealers great as they depend on commercial customers.

With all the "wet" in the U.K., I would have thought that a metal scooter would have few attractions for a Brit buyer?
maybe I'm just 'projecting'*, here😊

The one I see at the Supermarket is used year round, is four years old (if I remember correctly) and looks as though it’s faring pretty well; despite our weather and salted winter roads!

By the way, it doesn't happen often this time of year (there's hardly much point here), but shamed by Ruffus, I did wash the scoot yesterday so I thought I'd take a picture before it got crapped up again.  Here you go:

I just watched a review of the 300 version of the Royal Alloy in Britain. It uses the Vespa 300 GTS engine and has fuel injection.
