Higher RPM at 1/4 throttle
« on: December 02, 2020, 03:59:58 AM »
Hello everyone, happy December.

Recently installed a new carb on a kymco 125, the stock main jet is 102. Pilot is 35. Scooter runs fine but I have noticed something that might not be an issue but worries me. I barely give throttle to the engine and the engine is in the high rpm range. Recently in Missouri it has gotten cold, would it be benificial to upjet due to the colder weather? I know colder engines require more fuel.

Maybe the throttle cable just need to be adjusted ? If you haven’t tried that yet you can adjust the cable by removing the throttle grip from the handlebar, loosening the lock nut and then turn the cable guide to another position.
There must be a bit of “play” on the throttle when the setting is correct.

P.S. If you are not sure how to remove the throttle I can give instructions how to do it.
