Thanks Ruffus and yes, not only did the door get replaced, but my house insurance covered 85% of the cost! Winner. Also the scooter and my Triumph were undamaged which was a relief.

Order just placed for Oxford Touring heated grips.  I'm sick of frozen hands.  Funny thing is it never bothered me in my 30's & 40's, but I must be getting neche in my older age as I just can't cope with the cold in my hands like I used to.  I've picked the touring option for the 5 heat settings, the Battery saving mode and the low (<4 amps) draw.

Delivery promised at 24 hrs?...  We'll see.  Once fittted I reckon they'll be in use for about 5 months out of the 12 over here in the UK.  (It was -6c here again last night and had only risen to 4c at 2pm for my 14 mile ride today.)

Here it's fortunately bearable from temperature, normal bike gloves will do.
But like everywhere now, restrictions.
To meet somewhere (with a family member) for coffee is already  a challenge. Most of all shops closed, some according to law, some other because they starve.....
So you take your cappucino and caffè macciato out and have it at your scooter.

Very common for me to warm my hands on the cylinder head of my Yamaha DT-250 when I was young, it was my only transportation so rode no matter what the weather was. Now that I'm old I have a minimum temperature requirement before the scooter leaves the building, 50F (10C).

Next Tuesday it's supposed to get up to 60F (15.56C).

You lucky man KK! I’ve said on here before, pre-heated grips my rule of thumb was similar, long rides = >10c,shorter trips (up to 15 miles) = >5c. Worked for me.

Neil I do feel lucky this January in the fact I've had two mild days to ride, maybe 3 if next week pans out. Usually the biks/scooter get parked during January February.  I would have gone down to visit family in Georgia but because of covid did not want to put anyone at risk.

On the bright side the days are getting longer and the time to spring getting shorter. I do enjoy reading about others riding experience.  I always thought it would be fun to go for a ride with other forum members in their native country, for that matter even here in the US.

What a great suggestion KK and certainly if anyone ever ventures over to the UK, I'd be delighted to organise a ride out - maybe aim for the May to September window?...

Yep, the only time I've ever had them in the past was on my old (80's) Beemer K100RS and very handy they were too!  Bought these for my occasional winter forays out (wife & I only run one car between us now), but more so for those Spring / Autumn runs where the old digits feel the cold when the thermometer drops below about 10c.  Also, from memory, even at 12-15c if it starts raining then it's not long before wind chill brings on the cold!

Of course, here in the Phoenix area, winter weather is, for example, a cool 78 degrees today!

The finished article.  Quite a neat location for the controller I thought?  Rode out using them today and in a cool, damp 7c on 50% my digits were toasty!  Think I am really going to get my moneys-worth out of this investment
