How to disassemble a speedo for K-Pipe 125
« on: February 02, 2021, 11:05:50 PM »
We have a speedometer that isn't working, and I suspect that if I can pull this apart, all I need to do is clean the connections. However, I don't see any screws holding this together, nor can I find any videos for this speedo. Can anyone give me a pointer? Thanks

Is this a cable operated mechanical speedometer?

No, it's not a mechanical speedo - it's LCD. The problem is that the display doesn't present any digits, and it might take cleaning the contacts to make it function.

The two halves are glued together, but I got them apart with heat and patience. The circuit board is completely destroyed by corrosion, plus a capacitor is blown in half. Are there any resources for purchasing need speedos for Kymcos?

@baskervi,
if you are not in a real hurry to assemble your ride, see an electronic repair shop and additionally check all 2nd hand part platforms like ebay, etc. Somewhere for sure is your spare hanging around.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

I must be doing something wrong.  I cannot find the K-pipe listed anywhere in their parts section and wonder about the cost of a new speedometer assembly?
