Where to buy a luggage rack
« on: February 08, 2021, 07:50:39 AM »
I'm looking to install a luggage rack on the back of my 2019 Kymco Spade 150 so that I can attach my small amp for when I travel to gigs. I've been searching online and been having zero luck finding where to buy something like that. Can someone point me in the right direction?

@slyctopus,
with some inginuity there is for sure a way to install kind of rack. Even from some other brand or model. But would use your rear shocks upper points and then overload and extend your rear. How about thinking to use a fuel tank bag? In a combined strap/magnetic version maybe. Had a Yamaha XT 500 long time ago and added a carrier there behind, was not happy with street cohasion afterwards and went to mentioned tank bag, which made a calmer ride. At least for me, l'm short and had a windshield mounted for longer rides.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

All good points Ruffus, but critical would be the size / weight of the amp.  If it's too big then mounting it on the tank could be a no-no?  Also weight (eg >15 kgs) could rule out a rear carrier on grounds of upset geometry and handling.  We could do to know the size and weight to advise accurately, but I'm wondering about maybe mounting it on the pillion seat somehow, perhaps using the grab rail mounts?

I like the pillion stead idea. Here are the specs.

-Dimensions (H x W x D): 13.5 x 15.5 x 11.5 in. (34.3 x 39.4 x 29.2cm)
-Weight: 25.5lbs (11.6kg)

At under 12kgs, you probably could lash it to a rear rack. Size would put me off anything tank based - if nothing else, I bet it would obscure the clocks, illegal?

Still inclining to a pillion seat solution [emoji3]

I had to give up trying to carry heavy units on my motorcycles, and switched to a flat-floor scooter.  They're scarce in the new world, but Kymco has some useful models:

I know someone who is a professional welder who is willing to build this for me in a few weeks from now. Once the project is done, I'll try to remember to post pics.  8)
