Dear "LIKE-brothers in Ride",
having had between grocery shopping and cooking, cutting lawn, ect.. some spare time, l considered to check and revise my "on stock" starter motor. Just in case my present one gives in.
Its an OEM Kymco from an LIKE 125s and might fit into quite a lot of models.
-dismantling is done by removing 2 # philipps bolts
-the two halves are fitted together pretty tight and sealed with an O-ring ~1x 60 mm
-a little bit of black powder from contacts were inside but no metallic muck was to be seen on this halfmoon shaped magnets
-both rotor ends are running in brass bearings, in which they had no feel-or measurable lateral play
-so only axles and contact surface was to be polished
-both contact brushes where still in norm size (12mm)
-the only new piece to install was this O-ring which was on stock
(pls. see pics)
For assembling would a third and fourth hand be nice, for the magnets pulling the rotor aside, the brush coils kicking brushes in....
But after a deep breath its manageable. Just put a little bit of copper grease on this small brass bearings....
Test at my workbench via battery... turns like a jet engine. Labelled and back in its storage.
