Agility 125 hard to start
« on: April 02, 2021, 01:18:21 AM »
My 2015 agility 125 starts but cuts out often. And will sometimes sound like an old 2 stroke. I've checked the fuel spark ect. I will check the valves today but I've seen on other posts it could be the cdi? Any help greatly appreciated

can you expand on  it 'cuts out often'?  Dies right after starting? Dies when you first give it gas? Dies while riding? That can help narrow down potential problems.

Dies after a couple of minutes. And also once when I was stopped at traffic lights.

Many thanks

If the valves are okay it could be a fuel problem, or the CDI on your scooter is dying.

If the engine starts easily after a cuple of minutes (after the engine died) it should not be a fuel problem - the CDI is most probably on it’s way out. I would then just install another one without fiddling elsewhere.

Yeah it starts fine after a couple of minutes just keeping the dam thing running.

Cheers for your advice

My bike had the same problem. Narrowed it down to the CDI, replaced it with an aftermarket one and no problems so far. My OEM cdi went out at around 1,000km. Which supprised me considering the low mileage

The CDI’s and Voltage Regulators are the “weak spots” on the Agility 125’s. Those two components are “must have” components as spare parts at all times. At just over 28 000km my Agility is on it’s 3rd CDI and 3rd Voltage Regulator as well. I never ride around without those two spare components inside the luggage box. The spare components got me going within minutes each time I experienced problems along the road.

I have now checked the valves and set them up correctly.
I have a new cdi coming today and will fit that also will hold a regulator aswell. Thank you very much

Did you find the valve clearance gaps too tight ? If not, I am almost prepared to bet my front teeth the CDI on your scooter was dying.
