Kymco air filter
« on: May 17, 2021, 04:59:45 PM »
I have just purchased a 2008 Kymco Bet & Win 250 and it was running really rough.  Drained the old fuel, changed spark plug, oil and gear oil and added coolant.  I want to check the air filter but do not have a service manual for it...can anyone tell me where to find the air filter?

You might want to add some Techron  fuel cleaner to your fuel , about a ounce per gallon.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

Thank you, we did that.  I think the next step will be to check the air filter and clean out the carburetor.

I've purchased several used Kymco's that have sat for a few years. Every one of them needed the carburetor cleaned to even run. One was so bad I just replaced the carburetor.

I always recommend using O-E fuel (no ethanol ) and I add a ounce per gallon of Seafoam as a fuel stabilizer if the scooter sits for any length of time.

I'm a big believer in ethanol-free gasoline. Considering how little fuel our scooters and other small-engine items use, it's really a very small difference in up-front fuel cost to get the ethanol-free gas. I think the savings on the back end in terms of lower maintenance costs and problems is much greater than the added up-front expense.

Ethanol fuel will only cause an issue if your fuel system is dirty to begin with.  Tha alcohol is a serious cleaner and loosens any crud it comes in contact with. You should run a fuel conditioner at all times to keep the system clean, even with ethenol free fuels!!  I cleaned my fuel system and converted the hoses on my 1983 boat engine, been running 10% for almost ten years with no issues. My neighbor is an engine mechanic, never saw a real problem with ethanol fuel as long as system is clean to start and kept clean!!!

I do not agree with you. Ethanol fuel attracts water for long periods of storage which causes major corrosion and carborator issues.  If you are using it this is not a issue.  Pure ethanol is a very corrosion fuel, use to race boats Blown alcohol flat bottom.  I also worked in the hydrocarbon industry.

I have never seen a airport or Marina that sells ethanol blend fuel for a reason.  I'll see if I can find a picture of my old race boat from 40 years ago from the Southern Drag Boat Association.

Sorry for the poor quality picture but most of my photos from that time period were destroyed in a flood in 1979.  This was my BGF boat (Blown gas flatbottom)a few decades before I was fat, grey hair and old.

Thank you Iahawk
