Got a letter in the mail today stating People Bank had been hacked April 9th and my information might be compromised.  To borrow a phrase from the mideast, (death to the hackers).

Kind of funny, I have repetitive security systems at home to protect the scooters.  It's not the bank account I worry about (hard to get blood out of a turnip ) It's all the information that was taken, basically all my ID.

The bank is paying for credit monitoring for a year.  Might do a credit freeze as well.

I dumped all banks in the 80's due to their crummy practices. Got talked back in when I married this lady who can squeeze a buck until blood run out! Banks are "so convenient" and so on but banks are the major root of outpr financial problems especially the Fed. The sad thing is this was known quite well in the 80's so a lot of the public put their savings in gold. Most banks in the Memphis area at the time could not come up with the cash to honor withdrawals! Top of that, the biggies at the Fed and large eastern banks dumped gold mid 80's and ruined most that had turned green into gold.

The next disaster is inflation is realistically over 8%  and rising rapidly. So if you got it you may as well spend it so you get some value.

I was just thinking a new Kymco 550AK cost as much as the new car I purchased in 1988.   The discount offered on new trucks before the pandemic was about the same amount as I paid for a new GMC truck in 1994.  I feel sorry for the young people who will inherit all this debt.

Compare your salary in '88 & '94 to the salaries now for a closer/more fair comparison. I still agree with you that about our national debt!!!!
Both my sons are making at least 4X what I was making then. The one that didn't go to college is making 20k/yr more than the one that went to college.
But their house notes are about the same % of their salaries as what I was paying of my salary.
The one that makes the most has the least, don't ya know?

Back to People's Bank. We closed our account there years ago. Now I'm wondering if they still had our info/data that was taken in that hack. I'll be watching the mailbox for a few days now....

True but 8% inflation destroys people's retirement savings and leads to sky high prices.  Unless your in Kansas Peoples Bank is basically a local bank with branches in a few surrounding towns.  I'm sure there are several small banks with the same name so you need not worry, unless your bank gets hacked.

I heard on the news that 20% of the money in circulation was printed in 2020. This destroys the value of the dollar.  As long as they keep running the presses at hyper speed were in trouble. Just look at the country of Greese  and see what happens.  Germany after the war,  and Venezuela currently.

The Federal Reserve has always raised interest rates to put the brakes on inflation to keep this from happening.  That's why it's supposed to act independently of the government.

Well just got done freezing my credit, now I don't have to monitor for activity.

I also did the tag renewal on all my vehicles today.
