Kymco xtown 300i 2020 Problems
« on: June 04, 2021, 06:46:15 PM »
I’ve purchased a xtown 300i with abs and I’ve been noticing a few thing just wanna know if it’s not just me noticed the following

•vibration throughout the bike
•noise coming from the clutch (kind of like a grinding noise I think)when I start to accelerate fast
•front tire feels like it is running over continuous small bumps at lower speeds (not sure if it’s just cause of the stiffer suspension in the front)
•and clutch feels like it engages and disengages kinda hard I pull throttle a tiny bit and it jolts forward

Dealership says everything is fine so I have no other choice but to take their word on it could use some piece of mind please give me any and all feedback you have it’s greatly appreciated!

New or used? warranty?   Probably nothing wrong with drive system.   check front tire  pressure.  Your motorcycle/scooter experience?   Vibration=just there.   I have 2019 XTown purchased new, now 13,000 miles.   Performance ok for stretched 250

Yes it’s brand new and yes I have a 1 year warranty on it maybe I’m just overthinking it have u experienced the noises from the clutch or anything like that and would the system on the bike let me know if something is wrong with it ?

BTW - Kymco scooters have a 2 yr warranty.
It is also fully transferable to the 2nd owner.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

You know any experienced riders that do not work at your dealer? Go talk to him/her. Get them to ride your bike if you REALLY trust them and tell you what THEY think.

What country?
In USA Kymco scooters have been warranted for 24 months from date scooter was purchased.
Certain parts are graduated with a shorter warranty. The important drive train bits are 2 years.
Unless something has changed....?
Is your 'paper' a Kymco document - or something from the dealer?

1) Vibration is normal however it is subjective
2) The front tyre could be out of round or unbalanced. Kymco factory tyres can be quite bad. I recommend replacing it with a better brand like Pirelli or Michelin.
3) The symptoms of the transmission point to something loose. This should be claimed under warranty.

The dealership said they couldn’t feel it and put balancing beads in the tire maybe it’s just me bugging out but I don’t think it did that when I first got it I feel like I would’ve noticed it like I do now and they said same thing about the noise from the clutch so what do I do at this point? Do I wait for something to start getting worse and or break or what

Mine was very vibey when new. After about 2,000 miles this smoothed out such that now it really only intrudes at high speeds - 70mph+.  Another bit of “character” is how it clanks (your grinding?) a bit as you accelerate from a standstill. Doesn’t appear to be a fault as such, possibly a quirk of the single cylinder motor as these are inherently unbalanced?

I’d echo the point about swapping out the Kenda’s(?) mine were awful and I’m much happier with Michelin City Grip 2’s.

Finally the clutch engaging and disengaging hard, I’d say if this is still an issue at the first full service then have your dealer check it out.

I’m in the UK and here I cannot fault Kymco’s after sales service. Hope you have a similar positive experience.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

Go out and ride it a quick 5,000 miles and then see if you have any complaints.   Professional quality riding gear, you will be much more comfortable.
