Me?
The GOAT is easy.
Hands down - get out there a snatch up a 1st Generation 2020, 2019, or 2018 LIKE200i while they are still around ~!!
Recalls in 10 yr model run: "tighten the fuel line clamp at the tank, 2018"

Italian designed, Taiwanese engineered, Chinese built.
Bullet Proof.

(honorable mention: early People and most Agility's)

I would  like more clarification, best around town, best hwy,  best combination of both, styling, price vs value or just personal choice?

My favorite hwy would be the Xiciting's *  with there long wheel base and heavy weight makes them very stable. My favorite around town would be the older Super 8 150  with the big wheels and shorter wheelbase with the People 250S a close second.  If I could have only one scooter (God forbid) it would be the Grandvista.  It has a stable ride on the hwy but lite enough and narrow enough to be nimble around town, despite it's 12" tires it has a soft comfortable ride.  Although some say the styling of the GV is dated I thought it was futuristic  for it's  time.  For affordability you would be hard pressed to find a better value then the Agility series, I have seen Agilities that were severely abused and still running. Styling the Like series seems a eternal favorite and one that I have not owned.

Ergonomics plays a role in the fact we are not all the same some scooters just fit us better then others.  * I consider the AK 550 part of that series just more advanced and  refined.

My opinion only from riding a variety of Scooters.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

KK has nailed it Stig, the best will vary depending on what you want to do with it!  If all I was doing was tooling around town then a little 150 Like would be best, but if I want to do longer (up to 50 miles) journeys I’d opt for my XTown 300, and touring? Well then I bet he AK550 would be just about perfect?

I'd have to say that the Agility 125 has to be in there with a shot - hundreds of thousands sold worldwide and built like a tank.
Rides;

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma (2016)
Honda C70C (red, 1983)

I would tend to agree  they have a good cost/value ratio. Like I said earlier I have seen these abused  and still keep running.  No machine has been abused more then the Agility 50cc with young riders as well.  To borrow a phrase from a watch maker, ( takes a licking and keeps on ticking).

The Xtown 300i is the scooter I'd be most interested in getting. Wonder how its owners feel about it. Seems to me a great all-around option. Enough size and power for the highway but still small and nimble enough for around town. Also a pretty sharp looking machine IMO. May not be known as "bulletproof" like the Agility but definitely more refined.

Well, no complaints from this satisfied X-Town 300 owner!

If I could have any Kymco, it'd be the GTI 200 (or 300).  Has a flat floor, which is great for errands and carrying stuff.
They were available just a couple yrs in the US, I think.
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

I'm biased about the best scooter because I own a Downtown 350i. It's a great maxi scooter for city and highway, plenty of storage and weather protection. The engine and transmission are powerful, smooth and are easy to service. It's what the Downtown 300i was supposed to be after years of manufacturing experience by Kymco.

I don't think it's reliability is bulletproof like the Like though.
