Conformity?? KYMCO Grand Dink vs. KYMCO Yager
« on: June 21, 2021, 11:27:47 AM »
Dear forum riders,
I saw in an old gentlemans garden (yes older than me) a Kymco Grand Dink 150 unused parked. So I asked about and it would be inexpensive for sale.
Q:. Is this Grand Dink identic with the Yager or is it an own, independend product.
Looks neclected, but repairable, motor has on its underside a little bit oil. At right hand side, where the waterpump is located at, seems to hang a drop of green coolant. Any indications for expensive repairs?
Haven't that much experience with liquid cooled one cylinders. But starts fine, immediately, runs without excessive noise... muffler inox...
Any suggestion is welcome.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

My second Kymco was a Yager 200i. I would still be riding that if my wife had not INSISTED me getting a new bike! She's a keeper, isn't she? Well, BOTH! Har, har!

Don't know about the 150 variant but if anything like the Yager, it is worth restoring.

When you purchase.....and set about blending  with some of your spare panels....will it become a Grand Like. Or maybe a YIKER?
You are too late....for I now have them copyrighted😊

I thought the Grand Dink was the Euro-Asian version of the Grand Vista, which is a 250.  Didn't know that Kymco made a 150 version of the GD.  Have you done a search online for any specifics?  Or you could call a long-time Kymco dealer and inquire.

Thank you all for responding.
@Stig, yes, I thought to baptize it excactely as you IMMEDEATELY copyrighted.
Bad luck for me. Will cost me some sleepless nights again to come up with something similar sophisticated. Might do under the blanket. One of the previous owners had already this idea and changed the front fairing against a black one from a Grand Dink 50.

Yes. I was hoping Kansas Kymco or somebody there around would have an educated guess.

But, its waiting to be refurbished already.
(pls see pics) will of course write how it goes.
But 2, in what subheading should we put this Grand Dink 150?

looks like a great little bike that just needs some cleaning and some tlc (tender loving care). Ruffus, you're just the person to provide this! Keep us updated on your progress.

I have never seen the 150 grand dink/vista, I have seen a 150 Bet & Win which was the predecessor of the Grandvista.  I'm actually in Wyoming  picking up a very low mileage  Grandvista  and found a low milage People 250S . Went by Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse this morning.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Ruffus does the mirrors fold in? Looks similar to the Grandvista/dink, has the instrument pod but analog gauges. I don't think that model was imported here. I have seen Bet & Win advertised but don't own that model.

Thanks alot,
@Iahawk, will apply plenty of "TLC" 🛠
@Kansas, yes mirrors are manually folding in,
interesting with which motor it would be similar, to have a wider range of spare part options.
After some comparison looks pretty much as Grand Vista in USoA. Only some decals, seat cushioning and small features seem different.
But as soon (Thursday) I have it in my shop, we'll know more.
Great trip to see this monuments.

The grandvista appears  to have a few more features such as electric folding mirrors and digital instruments.  Other then that very similar .

Did a little more research and the  Bet & Win 150 was a liquid cooled 150cc engine producing 12.2 HP @ 7250rpm. I would be willing to bet you have the same engine.

@Kansas, thanks.
Yes, it seems to be hybrid of early Grand Vista body and  B&W 150 cc motor, since it's liquid cooled. We'll see when I strip her.
But in which subheading to put her then? Ha ha..

The  Bet and Win was one of the first medium size scooters imported under the Kymco name. It came in a liquid cooled 150cc and 250cc. I would be willing to bet you could get interchangeable parts using the Bet and Win model. It also had the same instrument pod with analog instrumentation. Kymco's first year in the USA was 2002 I beleive. The Bet and Win was Kymco's answer to the Honda Helix and Yamaha Riva.
