Widespread E10 Fuel comes to the UK
« on: June 22, 2021, 07:39:16 AM »
I see that we’re following in the steps of the USA with the introduction in September of E10 petrol (gas) across the UK:

Not sure how this would affect my X-Town, if at all, but hope it doesn’t lead to issues with my daughter’s aging Audi?  The powers that be claim engines post-2002 should be OK.  Let’s hope so.  On the plus side, super unleaded (E5) is readily available as a (much pricier) alternative.

interesting, Neil...we have lived with our E10 fuel for years (decades?). I have never had an issue in a car with fuel injection. The challenge seems to be with small engines with carburetors and the E10 attracting water. I live in Iowa (home of the corn grown for ethanol) and I only use ethanol free gas in my small engines. I have no issue with using the ethanol in my cars.

It's funny reading about the ethanol discussions on some message boards...some say it's the devil itself and others say they've never had a problem with using it ...

Thanks for that observation Hawk. Neither of my mounts are carburettor equipped having EFI, so maybe no problem anyway, but the super unleaded here is staying at E5 so I’ll maybe just carry on using that? The difference in price when filling my 10l X-Town tank is negligible!
