Dam the torpedoes
« on: June 30, 2021, 04:37:04 PM »
With rain in the forcast I decided to go on the Romeo ride today anyway. So Dam the torpedoes full speed ahead.

After sitting for a year I got out a Xicting 250 this morning for the ride. I connected the battery terminal hit the start button and it fired up by the third revolution.  Got to love FI.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

I was wondering how often you get your various scoots on the road. Did it rain on you today or did you get lucky?

Do you get every scoot on the road each year for at least a few rides? Oil change day must be a big event at your house!

The good; I missed a down pour by just a few minutes, it was sprinkling when I left the driveway for about the first 5 miles.  When I got to Heston the ditches were full of water but no rain the whole trip. Had a nice lunch with fellow riders then left Newton for home.

The bad; I remembered how everyone likes pictures so I shut down from red line to stop and get some pictures of the treaty sign just South of town. When I went to start the scooter after running hard the battery didn't have enough to fire it off and I ran it down. Had to call a neighbor who picked me up and I retrieved the scooter.

The ironic thing about this is I just bought a jump start pack that I had left at home. I could have been on my way in a couple of minutes.

Iahawk I try to ride a tank of fuel through each bike/scooter every year. Since I keep the bike's /scooters in a climate controlled building I don't worry about oil changes all that often.  When i do change the oil  it usually looks like fresh oil.

Scooter riding photographer tip.....
Let it idle while you're taking the photos.
Turnsignal (or 4-ways) activated, broccoli band on parking brake (lights!)....
Snap away!.....
especially if it is about 18°F & snow clouds forming😊
If you have a support vehicle following....no worries.  Shut her down.

Would have been a good idea but my side stand kills the motor and didn't know if the gravel would have supported the weight  of the center stand after a recent rain. It was a last minute decision to get a picture and I had been traveling at red line so the engine was heat soaked.  Lesson learned, at least it was in 3 or 4 miles from my house.

Disable the side stand cut-off!
Just one more electrical thing to go south some day miles from home.....

Actually it was just protection money, kind of like  mob insurance so nothing happens.  I beleive they were forced off their land with zero compensation into Oklahoma.
