Hey all.   Hey TechGuy, I got to wonder about that 3mm spec.  Can that be right?  That's like as thin as a toothpic almost.

If the damage can be removed before the disk is 3mm thick, I can be used without any issues.

..imma reckon that's a typo.....

The manual actually says the standard is 4.0mm and the service limit is 2.0mm. That particular disc says 3mm is the minimum thickness for it.

My rotor says 3mm min thickness too.  I don't have any calipers to check it's total thickness but I can tell you that it's much ticker than 3mm.  I would never let it get that thin thats for sure.  :o

LOL...you crack me up, bat. Ain't no man around here except my son. He gonna be 18 soon. Gotta find him a cool birthday present! What did you get when you turned 18??

Oh yeah! Plenty of back roads up here! I look 'em all up all the time on Google's bicycle trails thing. It amazes me, though, how Google finds all them back roads and all them damn Humongous Hills. I'm talkin' 'bout hills I would never try to pedal a bicycle up...lol.

Yeah, gotta get this thing running. Gotta get out of this house and do stuff again. Been sittin' around too long when my health went bad.  I need me some wheels that will roll to get me moving again. Hey what kind of brakes do you have on the back of your ZX? Can you switch something from back there up front to work around that speedo cable thingy?

riana, i dont know your problem, but if you put finger into bearings and they turn freely with no clicks or binding then i would guess your bearings are not your problem. my 2 cents, iker

I don't know if the bearings are bad or not but it sounds like you have have the wheel out and pounded on them some?  If so, they need to be replaced, they also show interesting wear and the brake disk shows odd wear.  What is the history... I came late to the party...

As to the comment about the thickness of the brake disk, I have a feeling that the standard 4mm, grind to 3mm and replace at 2mm applies to all  the discs because my P250 sounds about the same. I measured 3 dimes in the office today with a ruler (not perfect but close enough), I come up with right at 3mm for 3 dimes.  The US Mint website lists dimes as being 1.35 mm thick but these seem thinner than that. Nickels are shown to be 1.95 mm thick so two should be almost 4.0 mm thick, same as a new disc. My nickels measure right at 4 mm when I stack two of them.

So, Rhianna, if your disc is as

Thick as two nickels, it is almost new.
Thick as one nickel, needs to be replaced.
Thick as 3 dimes, It can be re-surfaced at a machine shop.

Easy, cheap way to tell using no tools!
