I was sitting on the patio grilling for supper, thinking that my 15 yr old Chevy Silverado* still can throw out ice cold air from the A/C......and that "by golly Americans can make some darn good stuff"....when my first Oscar Mayer hot dog slid between the grill bars of my new "Made In America" charcoal grill and fell into the Kingsford charcoal.

WTH??!!

America's favorite hot dog just went into the coals!

Didn't we do any pre-production road testing of this grill??

Don't blame the grill, blame the greedy hot dog manufacturers making the hot dogs thinner.

Stig got you beat on truck age, My old  plain jane F-250 Ford XL is 21 years old  even a manual 5 speed transmission.  223k miles. Not that there was anything wrong with the factory CD player I did upgrade the stereo.   Just got back from a trip to Mt Rushmore & Crazy Horse to Sheridan Wyoming hauling a trailer to pick up two Kymco's a week ago. Thankfully the prior owner did opt for cruise control and stereo upgrade but otherwise rubber floor mats and crank windows bottom tier pkg. Since it's a crew cab I took out the back seat and built a bed for the Collies.  The Collies usually go on all my excursions except on the scooter. Got to love old inefficient American trucks.  Mine does go through fuel like it's a charter member of OPEC with it's V-10.

Mine's a six. Very healthy appetite! (Never checked the MPG's - I'd only cringe)
I looked at putting new plugs in - but can barely see them - let alone get a wrench on all of them.
Did put in a new battery and new air filter.
Blew out the brake lines 2 yrs ago when backing out of the driveway. !! 3 mins later I'd been killed. Shop said, "What?! - You haven't had the brake line kit put in, yet?!??" $800. Since truck was a gift from my FIL - paid the $ and didn't complain. Couple hundred for a new L front ABS last year.. Otherwise - flawless....except needs a new "clock-spring"  in steering wheel to fix the airbag light, $775.
Guess I forgot those things....
FIL put heavy duty tires on it so it rides like a coal wagon. My 1987 Crew-cab w/full 8' bed Silverado which I drove daily for 25 yrs at work - had highway tires and rode like a Buick.

Stig had the plugs changed on mine and new coil packs , gladly paid the mechanic to do it.  My truck being a 3/4 ton uses 10 ply tires on second set of Hankook tires (made in America ) despite the name.  I've put  over 10k miles on it this year so far. My sister can't understand why I don't purchase a new truck since I can easily afford it.  I tell her I'm just frugal.  LOL

I'm going to blame the cook!
Dogs should be set ACROSS the grill bars at an angle or even 90 deg if you wish, not inline with the bars. That way size doesn't matter... or were you told size DOES matter?  :o
That also puts the proper grill bar scorch marks on the dogs that is the classic way to cook them.

My family has learned to expect 20>30% lossage when Im grilling....but as soon as the dogs thawed I was already at 25%!
Yeah, OK, turned 'em sideways...and only one rolled off the back. Who knew, no lip back there!

Tonight i'm frying fish. No worries.
The Mrs. is just happy that I've tried to have something cooking when she comes home from work.

I tried that. My wife said "don't do that again".
She's a cook and is rather particular how things are cooked or it's just not right.
This year for my birthday she bought me a new grill. The old one had rusted through. This time it was a propane instead of charcoal. Guess who was the first one to use it?
Not me. She wanted a gas grill so she could start it herself. I did finally get to use it... under extensive supervision.
