New Top Case
« on: July 17, 2021, 08:10:16 PM »
Just installed the GIVI B32NMAL top case on my 2021 Honda ADV 150. Considering this case costs less than $100, I am absolutely thrilled with it. It uses a monolock plate that I was able to attach to my aftermarket luggage rack in about 10 minutes. Once the plate is attached, the case itself can be locked onto the plate or removed from it in 1 second with the simple press of a button. When attached, it's good and secure, and I am impressed with the 32-liter capacity -- easily enough to accommodate a full-face helmet with room to spare, or enough for several pretty large bags of groceries.

I also think the case looks great on my bike, but I guess I am lucky that the black/gray color scheme of the case perfectly matches my scoot. Lock mechanism works smoothly.

This is not a ballistic case by any means in terms of overall durability. It's a molded plastic about what you would expect at this price point, but in no way flimsy. I would anticipate getting many years of service out of this product. I'm going to get some self-adhesive foam padding and affix it to the inside, just to cushion the cargo and prevent vibration/bouncing when riding with a load in there.

Hope others in the market for a top case find this helpful. I looked at other GIVI models, as well as some from Shad, but ultimately settled on this one because I liked the squared off look better than the rounded style on most of the lower-cost cases.

Good job. I've always found the Givi topboxes have the best one-press release mechanism.

Looks like it grew there!  I have a Givi Blade 37l box on my XT300 and it turns an already capable load carrier into a practical alternative to a second car in terms of grocery runs,

"And from the other side of the isle...."

IMHO - every top case spoils the look of a scooter or motorcycle.
Mine included.
None are an improvement on the always horrid milk crates😊
All of our scoots look better without that carton back there.

I think you can make a good argument for that. But then again there's no arguing against the practicality the top cases offer.

I think the squared off look was the right choice..it kind of looks like the square, aluminum boxes on many ADV bikes.

Only thing I might add is some kind of reflectivity to the box so you're extra visible in lower light conditions.

You're obviously right Stig, but I'll sacrifice the aesthetics for the monumental gains in load carrying capacity!  ;)

Last evening, my wife and I went out for a ride. First time out with the top case. I asked her about comfort, whether the case dug into her back or if she could use it as a back rest. She said she can lean back against it when she wants, but it's not against her if she sits upright. Asked her about whether I ought to get the optional back rest cushion Givi offers to go on the case, and she thought it would be more comfortable with that. So, I will look into that.

As for the capacity, it was nice when we stopped for ice cream, to have enough space to store my helmet under the seat and her helmet in the top case. And, on the way home, there was a half gallon of chocolate peanut butter ice cream riding in that top case!  :D

Talking about beauty and topcase.
Can't beat practicality, but for looks....wooouw
@pa, had my girl with me too. Had a GIVI topcase without cushion before and my better half suggested to get another with a back support.
Yes, it's ugly, inexpensive, but makes my wife happy. Point is "Happy Wife - Happy Life". And that's what counts for me.

Ruffus, is that a rack on top of your topcase?
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

I'm never carrying anything in my topcase when riding at sunrise that I couldn't put under my seat.

and I've never had a topcase or scooter which would swallow my giant helmets :)

@Stig, yes, stuff would fit under my seat, but it's sandy/dirty. So, much easier to hose down topcase and scoot.

Why is that?  Weight distribution?
