1st service uh, where's the spark plug?
« on: October 25, 2010, 04:09:21 AM »
Hi everyone.
My scoot is a 2008 zx50/vibe & while it was under warranty the local mechanic worked on my bike for me. Now it's my turn lol. So I've cleaned the air filter, changed the oil & would love to check & or change the spark plug. And herein the problem lies. I can't find the darn thing, any help would be appreciated.. please? .. Thanks in advance .

p.s.(Hope this hasn't been posted before, I did check the forum, hope I didn't miss it)

I just purchased a couple of ZX-50's today and discovered to access the spark plug it requires removing the seat bucket.  Once you remove the seat bucket, you should see the spark plug on the back-side of the engine at the top, just below the oil reservoir.  What a freakin' pain to get to!!! >:(
I may be slower uphill, but I'm quicker at the gas pump!

From the right hand side of the scooter, if you reach above the rear tire and move your hand forward (towards the engine) you will find the spark plug cap.  You can change the plug without removing any panels or anything.

You guys should have seen me changing my first plug on the ZX50 back in the day.  It was quite comical.  I refuse to go into detail.

I'll take some pictures for you tomorrow, if I can manage to remember. :)  It's the 12mm bolt that's up underneath the engine, next to the eyelet where the rear brake cable goes through.

:D
