Huntsville trip this Friday 20 August
« on: August 16, 2021, 09:38:05 PM »
Getting ready for this venture to the 2021 Huntsville Hamfest where all the amateur radio nuts gather to buy and sell, listen to seminars and ogle the new stuff.

Getting the DT300i ready startedvwith stealing the CVT belt from my wife's GTi300 People to have incase the service change time happens ( unlikely). Having the spare and the tools to change GUARANTEES the original will not break!

Good thing I did this because her clutch nut (19 mm/.75") was barely snug! It was so EASY to unscrew whereas the variator nut on the crank required the breaker bar and pipe to break loose! Nice and clean in the belt case but she has less than 4000 miles on the scoot! Another thing is the flimsy air filter had a big hole in it so will have to fix.

It is about my limit to have to stand on my head to get at this stuff! Coulda used that lift John virtually gave away!

More later and maybe some pictures!

My B.I.L. is a amateur radio operator that just got back into it. He was able to get his old license call sign back.  I'm  getting to old to get on the ground or more importantly back up and for that reason bought a 12x12 custom storage shed. I will put a motorcycle lift in that building and heat and cool it.

I would have loved to have Johns old lift as well but distance prevented that .  Will probably end up with the Harbor Freight version.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

Got into the CVT case of the DT300i today to find the belt had deteriorated probably due to heat as the air inlet filter was clogged with dirt and leaves.

Redid the filter with fiberglass window screen.

Update: no trip to Huntsville tomorrow. Reasons not involving scooter condition/ maintenance/amateur radio/moon phase or tea leaves.

Thank you both. Yes, I was for months looking forward to this since they had shut it down two years in a row over this stupid "thing that has everyone scared spitless."
