Potential upgrade: ? about front forks....
« on: October 26, 2010, 01:40:49 PM »
i am wanting to upgrade my front brakes.... do the front forks neccessarily have a left or right side??.. i need to change sides on my forks to accomodate for the new brake caliper..needs to be on the right, not te left as on the zx model.. all seems the same, i figure they would just swap over..(i got ahold of a caliper not realizing the different sides) any input on this will be great...

i think i have it now....my forks should change sides, that way i can upgrade to a s9 front brake caliper(2 piston). also upgrade with a s9 adjustable rear shock. ;D  figured that may be a nice detailed mod for the zx. ;)

Yikes! Can you run the speedo cable on the other side when you swap the forks?? I dunno. I was hoping it would all fit there for ya, bat. LOL @ duct tape...there's got to be a way to rig that thing up though!

I been wondering 'bout sid too...think he went camping last weekend...

hey rianna, no my speedo end wont work upside down. i tried it. BUT i did go get the speedo end/cable and i had found out that supposedly it wont matter as long as i dont get crap tangled around or whatever. the cable will hold steady enough...i did however install the rear shock today..i got a 2in. lift, adjustable, red too. :D i took a before/after pic but of course my cell wont allow me to post pics. word had posted some for me before. i cant wait to do the front brake swap. ;D gettin the pads ordered from ebay.(to wore to even do the swap)...at least the rear shock was done. looks better. ;D 8)

update on the s9 parts swap.......i had to file down the case some to get the clearance needed for the rear shock.. she fits good, looks great compared to tje smaller zx shock..the ride is stiffer, seems to handle better in corners. gave a 2in lift... i have the front brake pads ordered now for the front brake/wheel swap...i did get both s9 wheels, i installed the rear wheel yesterday.. i am digging this color green on te wheels..like a metal flake lime color..idk for sure, itll match my next pipe great when repaired(the silencer is a limish color..). i believe these upgrades will help her stand out in a crowd a bit.. :D :D :D :D
