Replace standard muffler 2008 model
« on: August 30, 2021, 08:41:18 AM »
Does the standard muffler have a catalytic converter?
Will a replacement muffler damage the engine?
Will it be legal in Australia?

1. Kymco uses air  injected into the exhaust system to burn unburnt fuel. 2. It will not harm the engine.  3. I don't know Australian law, I know where I live you have to have it inspected before you can tag it when buying out of state.  If emissions systems are not in place they can fail the scooter so resell might be affected.

I would at least keep the old system in case it's needed for resell.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

Yes, the stock muffler is equipped with a catalytic converter. ( that is why it is so heavy) At least here in the United states it is illegal in some states to have it removed for emissions testing. Where I live all we need is a safety inspection. I myself am looking for a new exhaust, Let me know what you come across. Problem is that I cannot one that is a direct plug and play without having to modify the exaust.
