Yeah, this hot humid weather is going to end.
« on: September 01, 2021, 10:46:03 AM »
We have had temperatures  around 100F for the whole month of August along with high humidity.  The weather is supposed to change with highs in the 70s and low 80's.  I will definitely get some riding in now.

This summer has been nuts with projects. While I got very little riding in I did manage to get a lot done.  Last weekend cut down a 40' pine tree that died of pine wilt and hauled off. This Thursday I have  my 12'x12' building coming in to put on a concrete slab I poured 10 days ago.  I will wire, insulate, run conduit from the garage,  sheetrock,  lights , A/C, heat and a motorcycle/Scooter table, put in a security DVR system, stereo, tool box and my little workshop will be completed.  When I get done you will get pictures. It might be awhile. Still need to pour a concrete pad in front of the building.

I got so tired of working on things in the heat, soaked with sweat . The final straw was getting up and down from the ground.  Does it make economic sense ? Absolutely not, but I don't care. I get bored during the cold/long  winter without something to do.

I'm planning a 12' x 8' wooden shed on a pre-existing concrete pad (demolished some old outbuildings in the Spring) in my garden KK, but the 15' drop and 11 steps down to it, with a dog-leg, sort of scupper any thoughts of it doubling as a scooter workshop.  Rats.

I'm envious, but masochistically looking forward to seeing the photos!
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

Sounds like a challenge to me.  Are there a service alley coming  in from the back side?  Or maybe put the building on legs on the side of the hill where the floor is level with the top? I had to move several tons of earth in order to put my shed where I wanted it. Did it with a shovel, wheelbarrow and rototiller.  If I new how much work it was I would of had it done.  Hindsight 20/20

Neal you might be envious of my shop but I'm envious of where you live. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Yep cooled off here, too, so I took the pup for a nice full circuit walk at the dam (we call it the Full Monty)
She got a little spooked when she noticed all of the large turkey vultures circling like they'd spotted Butch and Sundance a'laying on the prairie shot full of holes.

I told her that if they swooped down and carried her off, I'd walk back to the car - and go for help.

Definitely, that was the whole idea to get me off the ground.  Climate  control is the icing on the cake.

@Neil, I don't remember where I read and saw it, but  there was a guy in UK who had the same downhill garden and simply constructed a cablecar from the upper part of his garden to his workshop down there. Hooked his cycles up on this cable like on a trailer (2 fixings on the handlebars, one on the rear carrier) and off he goes.

Here in Missouri it is as hot as a Billy goat in a pepper patch.  ;) Next week's weather is going to be in the mid 80's. Perfect riding weather.

A few years ago I bought a new Yamaha Zuma 125. I took it up North to my site in Ely. In front of my site is a steep hill (probably about 20'). I made a bet with several people that I could climb the hill on the Zuma.  Since the scooter was new I had a couple of young employees stationed on the side of the hill just in case.  The owner of the property said he had to put his UTV in 4 wheel drive to climb it. You should of seen the look on their face when I climbed it 3 times in a row on a scooter.

I definitely would not want to try it on the Xiciting's or GV'S because of there weight.

What part of Missouri?  I use to do a lot of dirt bike riding on the hills of Chadwick  between Springfield and Branson.  I had a Yamaha IT 465.
