Global chip shortage
« on: September 07, 2021, 11:01:37 AM »
Seen on the news the chip shortage might last until 2023. Lots of automotive mfg are shutting down  production.  Wonder if it will effect motorcycle and scooter mfg?

Let us hope they simplify designs to be less dependant on chips made off shore.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for the auto manufacturers, there the ones that sent production overseas and made us dependent on China and other Asian countries.

The old saying comes to mind,  Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

it's worked its way all the way down to the used trailer market

can't buy new trucks to haul cargo, so used trucks increase in demand till there are few of them, so people start buying trailers, and now there is more than a 6 month wait at the local trailer mfg. and now you have to pay $750 for a rusty old trailer frame, and buy new axles, wheels, tires & lights at Tractor Supply, and another $1k in PT for the deck

nope, I'll wat 6 mo. for a nice aluminum trailer

Kind of funny but I bought a small trailer from Tractor supply.  Last year they were $599. on sale this year $699. on sale.  I use it to haul a single scooter behind my truck.  It's a lot easier to load and unload a scooter on a  trailer then it is the  my pickup.  They have probably gone up again since steel took a big price increase.
