How often do you check tire pressure?
« on: September 08, 2021, 11:52:27 PM »
When I take a motorcycle  or scooter out that's been setting for a moth or more I check the tires.  Just curious how often you check tire pressure?
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

I don't ride daily so I check tire pressure before every ride with every scoot/bike. Part of my pre ride check.

OK, I'm not riding tomorrow  - so I'll check both scooters 😡
I hate checking the tires properly, with a gauge, which causes some lost air, so you gotta get the pump hooked up again ....etc.
I do squeeze them before every ride.

Stig Wally world has a small battery powered compressor with a gauge built in.  I can check the pressure and add any if needed. It's small enough to fit under the seat and strong enough to pump up a car tire.  Sunjoe is the name 24 volt lithium battery.  Digital pressure gauge built in.

I usually check at least every week once I am confident about how well a tire tends to hold psi.
I carry a Slime 12vdc mini pump that also can inflate car and truck tires. Also very small so it has a permanent placement in the under seat storage along with the tire plug kit. It does require a 12vdc socket that can handle 15 amps but that's a non-issue to me since I always add one of those if there is not one already installed. At home I use my compressor to add psi. I don't have one with a tire gauge in the hose. I don't trust those anyway. The tire gauge I do use (pencil type) may not be the most accurate but it is consistent which is more important to me.

After major air temp changes. Not so much when it turns warmer but definitely when it gets cooler.

You’ve pricked my conscience KK, it’s been months. Time to scrabble about on the garage floor with the gauge! BUT like Stig I always do a visual and feel check before riding.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

This is exactly what I have found.  As we go into Fall with the temperature dropping I usually need to add air.

Thanks to this, checked today propably the first time after buying in june. First station, closed, only gasoline available. Second station, new automatic, choose pressure first then put in valve wait till it beebs and done. I prefer older model next time. Back tire valve has so little space and straight valve so it didnt fit. Third station, asked the guy to check but no time, alone at work the whole station. I took the adapter 45 degrees from my wallet and rooled it in. That helped luckily, got some air also in not out when playing with those f***ing toys.
2.2 bar front, 2.4? bar rear, warm tires unfortunately. Helped, you feel when driving, and maybe lower gas from now.
Should do every second week I would say.

I carry a Slime pump and if the bike rides mushy I plug it in the direct-to-the battery socket I installed and pump them up. Otherwise, I check every two weeks.

went for a ride on my People S200 this morning...haven't ridden it in 2 weeks...of course I checked tire pressures..rear was down 2, front down 1.  I use a bicycle pump to fill..on my scooters it's approx 1 pump for 1 lb of air pressure. So a few pumps, checked pressure and was off.

I may be anal..but no way will I ride without filling to proper pressure..just...can't...do...it....
