Sliders vs rollers

  My new X-Town 300i ABS is finally on the way. I believe it has 23x18 (17.5-18gr) rollers. I see that 23x18 16gr rollers are available, but not sliders. I put lighter sliders in my 2012 GTI300 when I had it with great results. Will the 16gr rollers show enough difference to make the switch, or should I wait to see if 23x18 sliders are available in 16gr in the future?

     I just got a reply from Scooterworks. Dr Pulley does make a 23x18 16gram slider. Unfortunately they are currently out of stock. They also make 23x18 in 12,14,18,20,22,and 24 gram sizes.

@mrmike, if delivery of your 16 grams is somewhen, just take the next higher (e.g.18gr) available weight  in 23x18 mm and drill out accordingly.

I never thought of drilling out the factory rollers, but it might be fun to experiment with down the road. I don't want to go too far and kill all my top end. The stock rollers are 17.5-18gr, so I think 16gr should be the lightest I can go. I put 14gr sliders in my GTI300, and they were just right. Better acceleration, and still decent top end.

    Just got my 23x18 16gram sliders. I'll install them along with a iridium spark plug, and brighter LED headlights over the winter. It will probably take that long to get the tupperware apart for the headlights and spark plug.

that's funny! ...but the reality is the first time is the worst...once you figure out how it's all put together it gets much easier.

Based on recent 13,000 miles with purchased new Xtown 300i---nice scooter, mine reliable---just ride it 10,000 miles before you monkey.  Stock drive line just fine---performance of the bike is...it is a stretched 250---goes just fine as scooters go. With over 400,000 miles with 11 rubber band drive maxi-scooters---only ate one belt underway---Helix...and their belts could be changed without taking front pulley off!Always carry spare drivebelt as dealers almost always will not have them in stock.  OEM replacement work well.

@lahawk, how right you are!
Few month ago when I got my "abused" Grand Dink", it took me a hour to get the front part cleared to check on relais, etc. Now I can disassamble it in appr. five minutes, knowing where to pull and where to tweak.
Changed running lights against LED, much brighter and less consumption.
@mrmike, just keep on tinkering. If we would not try to improve our rides and find out the best middle for us, we would still be in automotive cave age.
