Parts availability
« on: September 24, 2021, 08:28:02 PM »
My Like 150 has been at the dealer's shop since June waiting for a fuel pump (under warranty).  He can't even get a firm delivery date from Kymco.
I have written letters and emails to Kymco USA, no response.  Any suggestions ?

None here.
Sounds like you've done all you can do.
I'd love to have a look at that pump.
There other pumps which can work in my Like200i.
I've had a Yamaha motorcycle pump running in my Like200i for several years. I installed it into the Kymco assembly.
Is this a recall issue?

It's not a recall, it was running poorly, dealer says the fuel pressure is low. He tried an aftermarket inline pump with the proper specs but it still wasn't right. I'd like to just sell the bike and be done with it.

Yeah, that's understandable.
Been there done that. My newish LIKE200iLX was down for months with a faulty TPS under warranty.
I bought a Honda Forza and rode it while the Kymco USA customer rep lit a fire under my dealership.
But this was before covid sunk all the parts ships....
Good luck....hard to sell a nonrunner and move on.

I waited all summer 2020 for ball joints for my uxv450i and my dealer ended up sourcing aftermarket bits

I stopped in my dealer yesterday to see if they could get me a roof for the same unit, I can source aftermarket roofs, but I don't like the selection, my parts guy tells me that Kymco is still no better delivering parts than they were a year ago,  takes several days to get return calls, just to verify part numbers of accessories, if they happen to have it at the SC warehouse, you might get something in 2-3 weeks, other than that, faggit about it, no schedules on stuff coming from Taiwan

@Philtuck,
I would see (I can just say what I would do) two possibilities.
A) leave the scoot at your dealer and forget about it.
B) is what I most probably do:
- take this scoot home, forget about dealer and warranty and put a "Facet" inline fuel pump on my scoot until I get a go from my dealer, he shows me the new pump and repairs for free the scoot.
I put such pumps in several HONDA and other motorcycles with good success. There are different opinions about this pumps, but for ME the plusses counted.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

Stig that is well and good if the fuel pressure regulator is functioning properly.  FI engines require proper pressure to operate properly.  On the two assemblys I replaced the regulator was bad and the fuel pump still pumped fuel.

In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

You could always trade for a different brand scooter. I waited for over two months for a fuel pump assembly for my Yamaha Majesty.

Does your dealer carry other brands of scooter's?

if you can't get parts for a 150 that's been around for years.....
Did Kymco send plenty of spare parts with the 550??

I could see if they had a bunch of defective pumps running out of replacement parts until their stock is replenished.

When I purchased some parts for my UNO 150 the owner of the company said he was waiting on a container of parts.  He said the parts were sitting on a dock in  New Jersey for over a month waiting to be picked up.

Women are becoming truck drivers taking up some of the slack.

My understanding is there is a sever truck driver shortage in this country as well.

I guess when you pay lots of people not to work they will happily oblige you.

In just 2 months the pandemic  took unemployment to within 3% of the Great Depression figure. And it took yrs for the GP to hit those numbers. Americans are not lazy. Then or now.

Everywhere I go there are help wanted signs in the window.  A lot of people would rather draw unemployment enhanced government benefits rather then work.  It's not until the enhanced benefits end do they seek a job.  Like I said earlier people will happily oblige being paid not to work.  Compound that with lack of affordable child care and schools not being open made for a perfect storm.

States that ended enhanced benefits early had a better job recovery then states that didn't proving my point.

During the depression there were no jobs to be had,  now we have over  10.9 million* jobs that are unfilled in the US . In the US 8.7 *million people are unemployed .

*July figure's from the US government
