license registration time
« on: October 02, 2021, 04:19:37 PM »
I went to renew my plates on Sept 30th (my plates are all August...meaning they are good until the last day of Sept before penalty kicks in) and to renew 1 motorcycle and 2 scooters was $30 USD. $10 each. I had to laugh at how inexpensive they are to license. Add in the $100 I pay in insurance on them each year (total for all 3) and they are some cheap fun.

The ride there was a bit hairy. I rode my People S200 downtown Iowa City (about 10 miles) to the county Admin building and forgot how crazy it is between classes with all the University of Iowa students and traffic (both car and scooter). That takes some skill to maneuver between all the chaos. I can't imagine doing it every day. I kept hearing Stig in my head saying that he'd rather battle deer and darkness than crazy city traffic (or something like that!).

But anyway...cheap to license our 2 wheelers!

I agree scooter's are very inexpensive to insure although our tags in KS are considerably more.  We have to pay property tax and a host of other fees.

My MN tags are due in January and the KS tags are due in June.

in NH, registrations are the month of your birthday, and cars & truck also get inspected that month, motorcycle inspection is in the spring(by June 1)  regardless of birthday, I have some of my vehicles registered under my business name, a birthday is assigned based on the alphabet, so I have registrations due in April, as well as my birthday in November. Licenses are renewed every 5 years in your birthday month

oh, and it cost me more for my 2007 V-strom, and 2015 Kymco UTV for street registration, than my 2002 Silverado, (part of registration is based on value, not weight) the value, is based on new with a formula for depreciation and my Silverado is fully depreciated in regard to registration fee
