Cargo ships
« on: October 03, 2021, 10:46:47 PM »
Seen on the news that cargo ships were backed up for 45 miles waiting their turn to unload in Long Beach.  The yard where they unload is backed up as well because of a truck driver shortage.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

I'm thinking of buying an engine for my k-pipe, expensive, but the company ships airfreight (FedEx).  shipping time is 4-7 days.

and cargo ship containers might not be much cheaper, I'm told that shipping cost for the standard 40ft container has gone from $4k to $20k, and in a line waiting to get into port

Driver shortages here in UK too.  Seems similar in EU too.  As an unexpected side benefit though, it is at least bumping up salaries for lorry drivers.

"Driver shortages here in UK too."

Everything I read says blame Brexit directly for this one.

Easy blame that, which ignores the fact that ALL EU countries have shortages of HGV Drivers?

Wallyworld is talking about having their own fleet of cargo ships,  don't know if they will build the own port to unload.

Hard to figure this out....
I ordered a helmet on Saturday night.. And it was at my front door early Weds morning.
The Netherlands to S.W. Ohio. (no it wasn't drop-shipped from N.J.~! Postmarked Holland)

Amazon can have stuff banging off of my front door before I can get my trousers on after leaving the Dell. (I checked up in the tree out front. They're not up there....) I watched this young female Amazon driver yesterday....the seat belt is buckled behind her...both doors wide open...and she's perched up there on that seat. Looked very dangerous.

So THAT'S why there's never anyone in the electronics section with a key to the printer ink! They're all digging a port.

I spoke with my good friend who owns 2 multi brand dealerships, and is building a new store, I did some consulting for his environmental permitting, drove by earlier in the week, and looks ready to move in. I asked him when it was going to open, he said hopefully by end of November, but all dependent on getting it stocked, he'll have watercraft in time for snow season, and sleds next spring, is my bet
