OK, it is that time of year around here when I need to drop another 2 or 3 MPH off of my pre-dawn scooter cruising speed.
I spotted 2 deer's rumps yesterday just stepping off the road beside me. That's twice in 7 yrs
in this spot....I log them all in my head.
Not often they stick around until I get the camera out of my pocket....
a snap from a couple of years ago....

Deer story: A few years ago I was driving across a field to do some work on the orphan's cemetery in the back corner of the Children's Home property.
I flushed a small deer .....who ran towards the busy 4 lane blvd out front. He laid down again.... But way too close to that busy street.
I was concerned it was going to venture into that street. I circled from the front on foot, and before it could run I tossed a painter's canvas drop cloth over it. I picked it up ....quivering and making little noises, and carried it to the front seat of my truck. Drove it far back into the property and laid it in a depression in the grass. Pulled the drop cloth off, and awhile later saw the mom come out of the trees and lead it into the woods. Apparently they're taught to just stay put when scared and alone. Pretty weird - carrying a deer!
