Attack of the idiot on an Agility!
« on: October 14, 2021, 12:44:51 PM »
I have never had a fellow scooter rider anywhere near me while out riding - until yesterday morning coming home from my coffee ride.
I was waiting at a railroad crossing for a passing train - just as the crossing gait was lifting I noticed a scooter bearing down on me from behind.
"Cool, a scooter!"
Then he swerved to my left, throttled up & passing me on the tracks, way too close by my left grip, cut across my front wheel and went to the right while I'm trying to figure out what just happened.
He turned right at the light - while I waited to turn left.
Would have liked to have had a chat with this kid....about observing a little road manners/safety.

Well, my first experience with a scooter rider on the road....

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

You will have people like that no matter what they may drive/ride, fortunately they are the minority.

Unfortunately no matter who is on the road nowadays most are A holes. That's why I always drive defensively.

@CROSSBOLT, here in good ol' Europe cardriver do such things. Since the law here allows motorcycles
to pass im front, moto-riders go in front, first one tight right, next one middle, third left...

@Stig, important is, nothing happened on those rails, people changed manners or don't have at all.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

In Italy?  C'mon Ruffus I cannot believe Moto riders are that disciplined.  It's been a few years since I was riding in Italy, but it all seemed a bit of a free for all back then!

Stig, sorry to hear that your first on road scooter interaction had to be such a negative one, but glad there was no coming together!  As has been said, you get the eejits in every walk of life, scootering included unfortunately.

Neil yes, it got better lately, also thanks to higher fines for ruthless driving. A lot of things on two wheels are tolerated here by authorities, but if you endanger somebody then it's done. No police would bother if you ride on an EMPTY sidewalk to pass cars, for example. In bigger cities is still law of jungle, so to say.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus
