is it just me or are new cars getting more and more hideous.

I live in a rather " Rich" community and have noticed over the past few years that people are starting to trade their older cars in for the newer generation of cars. Is it just me or is the newer generation of vehicles even more hideous?  Does anybody share the same opinion as me? I prefer the older cars IMHO. Newer cars have too many bells and whistles that will eventually break over time. Not to mention the sticker price.

I was Taking a joyride on the scooter yesterday and this passed me up. Tell me this is not a mustang. I mean come on, this looks nothing like a Mustang.

Not just you! I think the later model Lexus is hideous in that Mack truck sized black grille opening.
That "Mustang" is terrible since the past ones were more like Shelby Mustangs which ALWAYS were the best ones.

We had the age of the "blobs" where every sedan was so rounded started by Ford with the Taurus series. There were years of GM cars where the rear appearance was so bulbous to be vulgar. The late 50's, early to mid-60's were probably were the most ridiculous design years with some of the most bizarre and worthless "styling" of instruments.

I think that for some people who are easily impressed these design diasters probably sell easily. You and I are "form follows function" types who think some of the military trucks are about "right!"

to me, I think they all look alike, I mean how can a manufacturer's wind tunnel come up with different results ?  they all end up with the same profile and cross-section, just different emblems, and if you black them out, how do you tell the difference ?

I have a truck, cars have no usefulness to me, if I ever get one, it will be an old classic, antique by legal standards, probably a late 60's Karman Ghia convertible, I like British cars of the time period, but the electrics scare me

Saw an alternator bolt-in mod for VW recently....
Lucas electrics from the 60's give me indigestion....

my older brother had an MGA, his GF had a TR3, and I remember my brother picking up a bug eyed Sprite thinking he's make a quick buck
When I was looking at a MGB-GT as my first car, my bother insisted I buy the VW Beetle instead

They all look alike. Fat rear end and pointed front end. Too many gadgets and junk on them that we are forced to pay for even if we don`t want it.
I remember fussing with a car salesperson years ago about a 9 cd changer in a car. Who in the hell needs that. Since then they have added many new useless gadgets and keep raising prices. Wish there was some way we could put a stop to this foolishness.
Insurance companies are partly responsible for some of this new junk.
