2022 AK550 Average Mileage

The AVG MPG calculator on my AK is just plain off...it says im getting around 70mpg while im actually getting closer to 50.
Thats a pretty huge difference. Might as well not even have that feature if its off by that much.
Maybe its just mine.

I'm with you on that. My AVG on the meter said 70.1 but when I filled up, it was actually 51.
But, I'm also aware that with a small tank, a small variance in the fillup can change the mpg drastically.
So I'm holding off till I have several tanks full and see how it's going.

I saw another scooterist cut a 2" pvc pipe about 3" long to use for fillups so he could just fill till it cut off automatically.
The way the bike is now, if you insert the nozzle, then you don't get a full tank.

Another note. The first tank came off the first bar at about 48 miles. The second tank came off full with first bar at 43 miles.
Yet the meter is showing 70.1 mpg this time too. That is why I'm thinking it may be just the filling up different even though I think it is the same.

No one seems to be using fuelly. I just made my first 2 entries. Been doing more mods than riding. This week looks like good weather here for some riding.

Ive been saying since I got this that the gauges are all out of wack. And I mean all of them from the fuel, speed-o and even the TPMS.

That being said, pre 15g sliders I was sitting between 63 to 65 mpg. And after I'm getting right around 53mpg. I calculate my mpg myself.

For 10k you'd think the gauges and dashboard would be more useful.

I've known that for my last 3 bikes, including my current one, any dash display indicating ave. mpg or other computed values is usually off.
My Burgman 650 would indicate mpg somewhere in the low to mid 50s mpg on the display but when I did the math I always would get between 3 to 8 mpg higher. The dash computed and displayed value was WAY inconsistent by how much it was off, but it was always showing lower than actual.

So far I've only filled the tank 3 times in the first 412 miles on the AK. So far the first and 3rd tank ave. mpg displayed was around 65-66 mpg. The second tank was a little bit lower but still more than 60 mpg.
I just calculated based on miles traveled for a tank (I write that on each receipt) and the first and 3rd tank worked out to 55.6 and 55.5 mpg and the second tank fill showed 47.5 mpg. The discrepancy is likely due to being a new bike as well as the drop in temperature during that part of the ride. It has been my experience with any new bike that mpg improves over miles. So I expect what I have seen to become much more consistent and also higher yet than what it has been so far. Even with my Burgman when the temps approach close to or especially drop below 50 F the mpg also drops rather quickly. I ride all year around in central Iowa where summer temps can be easily in the high 90s F and once in a while we see over 100 F, and in winter time the temps can often be below 10 F and sometimes even significantly below zero F. I ride in all these temps as long as the roads are clear and dry where I ride. When temps are near 100 F I was easily getting well over 60 mpg on my Burgman. When temps were well below freezing and especially near or below zero F I was more likely seeing near 40 mpg on my Burgman. I have found this to be normal.

You suppose the average MPG calculator could be using imperial gallons? That would at but it closer to the mark...

Interesting hypothesis!  Easy check would be to do your own calculation from trip distance vs # galls put into the tank which it looks like @Clampett is doing.

Correct. Mine is still off a bit though due to the Odo not being correct.
My last fillup was 57mpg. Imperial would be 68.5mpg. Bike was showing upper 73's? Short pencil is better than long memory, I don't remember exactly.
Since my Odo is showing 4.5% more than my GPS, that would affect the MPG still showing more than actual.
This is assuming my GPS is correct also. Later on I'll use mile marker posts to compare and add to the confusion, uh, I mean data.

Gmaps shows 99.7 miles, GPS showed 99.9 miles, and my trip meter A showed 104.4 at the red light.
A C50 riding with me showed 102.5 on his trip meter. Since mile markers are known to be off also due to realignments, which side of the interstate it was measured on, etc. I'll just stick with the GPS for being the most accurate as long as I'm not measuring twisty roads. The MPG aren't that far off for normal tracking/ performance monitoring.

Interesting...ive decided my spedo is off by about the same 5%. I guess that all makes sense.

Im starting to think that once all the math is done the MPG calculator will end up actually being accurate. 

That helps give me a little more faith in KymCO tech!!!

(which was lacking when i was thinking these indicators suck so hard)
