Derestricting a Super 8 50cc 2T Scooter
« on: November 01, 2010, 06:41:46 PM »
How do I go about derestricting my son's new 2011 Super 8 50cc 2T so it will do 50-55 miles per hour?  Will putting new larger jets in the carburator and derestricting the muffler help?  Any and all instructions would be appreciated.  Thanks, John.

not sure on that my scoot is the agilty so if its the same its the drive boss and jet you replace and cut the cdi box. but take care of your son also how old is he and do you feel he is ready for gong that fast.

I talked to my dealer and he indicated that it has "all kinds of restrictions to meet epa standards".  Don't know if its more that the old super 9 or what.

I would start with the usual drive boss, cdi cut, open filter and new carb jet.

Play with different variator weights and maybe even the torque spring.

After that its exhaust and bbk.
Im usually on a bicycle, so for me, this thing is hauling ass!

That's a great but heavy scoot.  You will have to go through the whole list including exhaust and bbk to have any hope of hitting 55mph.  Then you better be willing to title, license and ensure it to legally drive that fast.  As well as an MC certificate for your son.

Not trying to be a downer, i've done all that myself and loved the rockin' 2T i made.  But in the end it was too stressful always having to worry about dodging the legalities so i upgraded to a 150 and got my MC cert and now can ride 55 at ease.  Just my 2c.
