Nashville, reporting in
« on: November 04, 2010, 11:08:52 PM »
Not much to say, but I'll be scarcer, as the neighbor with whom I had a connectivity arrangement has moved as of about three weeks ago. So, my access is sporadic (whenever I have a buck for a cuppa at McD's, for example).

Just wanted to let y'all know... I didn't go away mad, but I'm just not around as much as I used to be!

I sure miss seeing your scruffy face around here. I hope you can get the money thing fixed soon. Wish I had way to help.

Aroma, especially if he uses skunk scent to mask his human scent while hunting deer.  I bet Starbucks do love to see him coming.  :D

Finland was the first state in the world that has added the right to broadband Internet as a civil right (human right) inside its Constitution. ISPs are required to provide every citizen with at least 1 mbps link. However, that is just the "lower watermark" as they are really aiming for 100 mbps for everybody.

A number of countries in Europe are considering the same.

p.s. I already see my friend from the south of USA talking about impeding doom of socialism. :)

I live in Charlotte Park, west Nashville.

Oh, the Richland Park branch library has free wifi, too, and it's not so far away. Thing is, they don't like people hanging out there after hours. But McD's $1 coffee isn't impossible every so often.

And of course, any time I'm at the shop (like today, working!), I have access. Still, just wanted to mention that my blog will be slowing down a bit, as will my general participation here, etc.

As socialist as I am, I don't really support that initiative for the U.S. Here in the states, lots of people provide free WiFi, some private, some public, so the need is met for those who at least have a portable computing device and live in an area that isn't completely rural.

Is broadband critical for a lot of folx?  Sure, but for most, it's just a distraction or a toy 90%+ of the time.
