I was having the typical power drain issues with my new AK550 so i tried a lithium and im EXTREMELY impressed so far. Cant say anything about it.

Under proper circumstances they are great, just follow instructions to the letter !   They are safe if properly handled, but unforgiving if you make a mistake.  In a scooter that is normally not used in cold weather should be good. Just dont use a standard battery charger....follow instructions!!

Yesterday I installed a 12v, 14 amp battery in my 500. It has 240 CCA. I always go with AGM in my bikes. I have no idea how old the previous lead acid battery was, but it had 12 amps, 220 CCA.

What brand/model battery did you use?
When I looked today in the electrical diagrams for my AK 550 the info there showed a 14 Ah battery yet the battery that all AK 550 scoots that I know about come from the factory with a 11.8 Ah battery at best... Kymco branded Yuasa TTZ14S.

I too am curious, Only batteries that I can find on Amazon are 12v6A with less than 100CCA.  Unfortunatly for me batteries that I install dont last more than three months because of all of the short trips that I take, Eventually the load that occors when I start my scooter ends up wearing them out even though the charging system works perfectly. Weather here in Missouri doesnt help either.

Biggest thing I could find that would physically fit.

Yeah, just  a matter of measuring the stock battery, and the battery box to see if a larger battery will fit with minimal alterations.

I found that if I cut 5mm off of my battery box hold-down posts on the lid...I could fit a 14Ah Yuasa where my LIKE200I's 8Ah battery had sat.

Is there room in the battery box to drop in a sealed 8, 10 or 12 Ah battery! More Ah, the better. I have a 14 Ah in my LIKE200I,  replacing the stock 8 Ah.
Yuasa charts show dimensions available.

Good question! Some models have a battery box with little room to spare.  Like carpenters always say,"Measure twice, cut once"!

Yes they are great as long as your carefull.  Do not jump a regular battery to your lipo and make sure you have a proper charger. I have used them for many years in my radio control hobby and they are awesome....just be carefull and dont make a mistake !!

Ok, show of hands what type of battery do you run in your scooter. Agm or lithium? Being someone who only works three miles from his home I find it difficult to maintain AGM batteries. No matter how much I maintain them the load they produce is very difficult to start my scooter (Granted I use a 12v6A battery) would it be worth it to purchace a lithium battery and get more life out of it compared to purchacing an AGM? Just curious.

This is the brand that I use

REALLY impressed with this bad boy...looks like its on sale too...$35 off what i paid. That pisses me off for some reason :D
