normally I'd be at Dino's ..... -1°F
« on: January 26, 2022, 12:20:44 PM »

Hard to believe how far away I'll be sometimes for coffee - so early in the morning on my scooter.
Not today....too much ice and snow about.

and, once again - I saw the temp drop a degree or two ....just at pre-dawn.

I think Michelle is the only one still alive. What a modest outfit, yes?!
They were lip-syncing here on the Ed Sullivan show in 1967. (I think I read that Ed had them on 4 times. Did you get the E.S. in England? He premiered the Beatles in the USA. I think Dylan was the only big name who never appeared on Ed's show. They wanted some lyrics deleted.)
I was "in the wind" in '67. Somewhere between Florida and San Diego, across the bottom of the USA,  or down into Mexico or up the Pacific Coast Highway to San Fransico.....with my thumb out*.

In any event - no TV.

(*my daughter uses that against me sometimes, "Padre', you've walked across the USA how many times ....and you won't go with us to the Mall!!??". "I was 18 dear....besides - I've seen the mall!")

I've seen maps which show all the States or Countries where a fellow has ridden his scooter.
One day last winter I did that with a map of the USA - all the States I hitch-hiked through.....and it involved a lot of walking with my guitar and back pack. Getting 'up close & personal' with the USA. Ocean to ocean X 3 that 20 mos.

Papa John on guitar wrote (one of) my favorite songs of all time, Scott McKenzie's San Francisco.

Thought that reply might prompt some interesting reminiscences; you haven’t disappointed me Stig!  I remember a conversation with an American guy in New Mexico when I was asking him why so many of his countrymen didn’t venture abroad. His response? “When you’ve got so much to see here, why would you need to?”  Couldn’t argue with that!

Da_n - old guys are so predictable.
A moderator on another forum - tested my claim of carrying a Martin guitar across the USA 3 times.
"So, what Martin was in that case?"
Me: "0-16NY, Martin's only guitar set up for use with nylon or light gauge silk/steel strings."

I remember being really pissed when a girl dropped a cup on it one day in Frisco's *Union Square - dented the pristine satin finish on the top!
The next day I was really P.O'd at myself after falling asleep on the lawn of Union Sq. .....when I awoke my guitar was still laying there beside me! So dumb.

See. I don't always go wandering off........

Stig
*modern photos of Union Square show that it is mostly paved over!

Don’t think I’ve seen the answer on here Tom, but do you still play? My daughter does, well. She gets that from her Mum!
