PIRELLI SL 60 DUAL SPORT SCOOTER TIRE
« on: January 31, 2022, 06:02:35 PM »
Time for new tires for my 2018 Like 200i.  Does anyone recommend the PIRELLI SL 60 DUAL SPORT SCOOTER TIRE?  I was looking for something with more tread on the road.  Any advise will be appreciated!
Thanks Mike

I would think a more street oriented tire would give you better grip on the pavement than would a dual sport type tire...where are you riding?

Similar to a motorcycle with off road knobbies vs one with a performance street tire. Off road oriented tires have more flex in their tread blocks, making them handle not as well as a smoother, street oriented tire.  Now would we even notice this on a scoot going 30 mph? I don't know.

Yeah, no I wouldn't want anything but a good street tire on my (2013) LIKE200I.
I really liked Michelin City Grips on my LIKE because I'll never be in the dirt with it.
Last a long time....good in the rain!

Thanks everyone for your help.  I guess I was thinking in “car” terms when it comes to grip.  How long do stock tires last on the like 200i before they need replacing?  I currently have 4k on my set.  How do the Mitch

Your Kendas should last quite awhile.
I'm not sure....because I purchased my LIKE200I for 365 all-weather work commuting....and old hands here cautioned me to change them ASAP for the Michelin's.
I did at 450 miles.
The Kendas have been in the corner of my garage for 9 yrs.
Miles on tires varies greatly by riding style.
If you're riding the tail of the mouse and scraping the footpegs....you'll wear a good tire out in 4000. I get over 12,000 on my Michelins.

I’m with the Stig. Changed my stock Kenda’s within the first year for Michelin CGs and never regretted it. A transformation in handling so well worth the money!

Yes, definitely street riding only…no dirt for me.  Last question.  What is the best size Michelin city grip should I put on for the Like 200i?  Bigger is better?
Thanks again for the assist?

Not according to the old parts counter guys I've talked to.
A wider tire on the stock rim causes the bead to get pinched IN - lifting the outer tread surface away from the road. = smaller contact surface. You want an orange shaped contact patch....not an egg shaped one.
Some guys lower the air in the tire to get it back down again - which probably really screws up the handling. Wallowing around corners.

Stick with the exact tire size specified in your owners manual......which is the same as your current Kendas.
If you've got a way to put a wider rim and tire on your LIKE please post us pictures!

I probably should mention the "Car Tire" guys.
They put skinny, flat-top car tires on their scooters.
They're a special bunch of blokes - with secret handshakes and coded T-shirts, too, just left of the Flat Earth folks. :)

So, there's that too -

So if the earth really is flat wouldn't we want flat tires on our bikes?

If you can find the right size "II" - I'd go for them!

When I bought they hadn't released them in our scoot's size.

I put Michelin City Grips on my 2012 GTI300, and was very happy with the results. I'm going to change over my new X-Town 300I this spring. What's the best place to buy them?

Order them through your local dealer where you'll have them installed?
Or, Revilla.

2’s all the way if you can get them in the right sizes.
