My new top case mount for my AK 550

I finally got my top case mount in from TBSS. It looks great. I still need to install it, but it looks SOOOO much better than the givi or shad. I will post pics of it laid over the grab rails.

Did you get the rear cover panel with it that has the hole already cut out for the rear support? Most of those that I saw came with that panel but only in black.


I like the looks of that one better than the custom adapter/brackets made by Shad or Givi since it keeps to the design of the OEM. But I don't like the price for the ones I've found and they don't come with the Matte Deep Blue of my AK.

No it didn't come with the plate and I forgot to order it, but I bet it won't be that difficult to modify the existing cover.

You can get some paint and get it to match your bike. Having the factory case mount does look great on the bike.

I was thinking about that, painting the black cover but it may be better to leave it black since the luggage rack is black. Black does look ok with the Blue.
If you looked at the cover that is pre-cut for that rack you'll see the hole that is cut is as large as the part of the plate that has the 2 holes in it. That is so you can screw in the bolts for those. And also when you buy the plate it comes with a rubber insert to cover the slot that is cut in the plate, like a large rectangular rubber grommet.

He did say "mount" in the title. No Kymco does not make a mount for a top case. Just like many bikes I've had. Though I did put a Suzuki branded case and mount on my Burgman 650, but that was made by Kappa even though it had the Suzuki logo on it. This mount that Kymco Slice bought is the only one that is designed to look like it belongs or is made by Kymco. I haven't yet found any proof that Kymco actually made it but only that someone made it specifically for the AK 550 to blend in with the OEM design. Givi and Shad also make top case mounts with rails but those look very different than the OEM "look" for the rails. Shad's mounting rails look most like aftermarket after thoughts than Givi but only this one blends with the original design.

OH NICE!!! That looks way better than my mount...i got the tube steel/cheap weld italian one... Brixio? Braxio? whatever. Yours looks smoooth

I cut a hole myself into the plastic cover on the rear. I'm going to buy a piece of butyl rubber to cover up the hole and my hack job, but then it'll be water tight and look half way decent, too.

Would you advise others to use a drill to tap a hole through the body panel?
Could we see a photo with your lights on....the rack is not covering turn signals?
