Seriously ?? - "smoked" lenses for your scooter
« on: February 15, 2022, 06:47:32 PM »
I've long thought that few are as vain as are Vespa owners....often at the expense of their own safety.

As evidence:

ScooterWest (the giant N.American Vespa stockist) sells ("custom!") color matched replacement plugs to use after you remove your mirrors and when you remove the front and rear side reflectors.

ScooterWest also sells whole kits to replace Vespa light lenses with "smoked" (darkened) lenses. Front running lights, rear running lights, front and rear amber turn signal lenses, and the big ol' darkened brake light lenses!
What....?? "Yeah, the fewer people who know my intentions the better!"

But - these guys take second place to the brain-challenged folks (always youngsters) I've seen around here who are driving with "smoked" headlight lenses! (not to mention all the p-ups with nearly black tail lights = a lotta fun on a sunny day when they brake for a turn in front of you!)

"Vehicle inspections"? Not in Ohio.
If you can get it rolling downhill - you're good to go baby!

I've seen the "pirate crowd" and "crotch rocket" guys, do the smoked lens thing with their bikes. As I told a Pirate friend of mine, "I want to be seen". Light it up, baby.

Guess I'm old school as well. Air horn and aircraft landing light wouldn't be out of the question.

On one of my smaller scooters I turned around and went home because I couldn't see past my shoulder with the mirrors.

I can't understand sacrificing safety for vanity.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

Amen to that, at least I am not the only one who wears a high visability vest with a Red light on his helmet, and yet still people dont pay attention.

Never really understood why people "smoked" their taillights or headlights on Cars or motorcycles. Here in missouri if you get your vehicle saftey inspected they will fail it, plus I think it looks Tacky, not to mention Dangerous.

I have never been a fan of being less visible, I even swapped out my stock on my year v-strom, clear turn signal lenses with amber bulbs for amber lenses & clear bulbs
