1st ride of the season and man, it felt good
« on: March 06, 2022, 09:26:01 PM »
38 F (3.3 C) and sunny, today, and I had the itch to get back on the scoot. 1st ride since Christmas day. Since my People S200's motor is in pieces on my workbench..and my Ninja's water pump is leaking (gasket on order)...the Helix won.

30 miles in about an hour of riding around town and out to the Coralville Reservoir (our local lake).  Great tunes playing thorough my bluetooth headset...Beatles, Jackson Brown, Dillon ,Queen, Lennon...what a playlist!

Started getting a little chilly after an hour and called it a day. Can't wait for the weather to warm up in the next month.

Happy scootering to all.

Good for you!
Did we mean "Dylan"?*
And one of my fav sets of J. Browne is the couple he did on NPR's Tiny Desk concert (youtube)

Stig
* I listen to a lot of early Dylan....and if I had music in my ridjng ears I'd play Baez's  Lilly, Rosemary and The Jack of Hearts.(youtube)...wedding gift in 1967 were concert tickets at UCLA to Baez concert....it was night of our wedding. All our friends were poor...pooled their $ for our $4 tickets!
Don took us in his split window VW bug.

I almost went out today. About the same temps. Expecting bad weather to move in over the next few days... like the snow moving in right now.

That could be Dominique Dillon de Byington, known by her stage name Dillon, a Brazilian singer-song writer and piano player.
Or maybe John Dillon of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.
Or maybe one of a half dozen other musicians named Dillon.

... or maybe it could possibly be even Bob Dylan. No, that would be too obvious.

It got up around 75 degrees here on Saturday so I went riding with a dozen of my friends.

wow, lot of bikes! In my going on 7 years of adult riding I have never ridden with anyone else. I don't know anyone around here who rides. I have a friend about 30 miles away who used to ride but health issues forced him to sell his bike. Another friend who rides lives 100+ miles away so that's pretty much out. So riding for me is a very solitary, zen like experience.

Not sure if a group ride is ever in the cards...but who knows, never say never.

I often ride in groups of 5-10 riders.  We had 13 this past Saturday.  I have ridden in bigger groups but generally prefer 10 or less.  It's a little harder to get that many scooter riders together but this year will be the 4th annual Maggie Valley "Beat the Heat" rally and I expect 20-30 scooter riders to show up, maybe more.

This was about half the group last year:

Used to ride in small groups of up to 8, but these days like you Hawk I tend to ride solo which mostly I prefer, no temptation to do anything other than ride your own ride.  That said, I have hooked up with a couple of UK Kymco riders via this Forum and there maybe an outing in the Spring.  So never say "never".

Here I am, waiting for the rest of my riding group to arrive.
(maybe the bridge is out - or I got the date wrong?)

We had low 70's here in Syracuse this past Sunday. I was tempted to ride, but still too much salt residue on the roads for me. I always wait for at least 1 or 2 good rainstorms to clean the roads before I take my scoot out.

I usually do the same. We had some really heavy rain the day before so it washed most of the stuff off the street (and washed some stuff ON it!)

2nd beautiful day in a row...high 50's (~15c) and sunny. Took my usual 1 hour ride covering about 25 miles. Rode out to our local lake and saw the ice is still on the lake! Hope it's gone, soon.

Soul cleansing, mind clearing, mood enhancing...love to twist the throttle and go.

Hawk,
Thank you for including the nice scooter photo in your ride report.

As Vivo used to say, "no pic? - it didn't happen!"
And another guy used to say it this way,
"A ride report which doesn't involve either a bear, a crash, or a scooter photo* - is as exciting a read as my sister's book reports."

Again, thanks for the photo!

Stig
*and as we've seen in a few hundred of mine - even a photo can be boring and repetitive!
