Battery
« on: March 09, 2022, 10:48:16 AM »
I have a Kymco Xciting 400 and put new battery in a few days ago.  The battery seems to be low on power even though it is new.  Interested in your Battery post but a bit confused as to what battery to replace my new one with??  any one any ideas out there.

Never had any complaints (over 30+ years & countless batteries) with Yuasa.

Just because you bought it new doesnt mean it had a full charge, they often drop down from being in storage.  Put a battery tender on it to top it off then see how long it lasts. You will get a much longer battery life if you were to keep a battery tender connected wgen it sits for a while. They make a sumple harness that connects to the terminals and has a plug on the other end to make it  plug and play easy. Over the years I have bought new batteries that were duds, nit often but it happens!!

The important part of that is to connect it to a battery tender or battery maintainer and NOT a battery charger. There is a big difference and the biggest difference is that a tender/maintainer is smart and will monitor battery charge state and will shut down when the battery is charged after it *conditions* the battery properly. Chargers, or trickle chargers, simply keep going and going and going until your battery is fried, or until you disconnect it.

Invest in a multimeter ($7 at Harbor freight) and measure the battery voltage. A fully charged battery will read almost 13 volts with no load and almost 12 volts while cranking the engine. If the battery tests OK then suspect a bad connection to it.
