March 2015, nice sunny & warm ride out for coffee at Yellow Springs. Took the longest way home that morning.
Ran over a piece of sheetmetal which sliced my Forza's rear Dunlop tire. 3" piece of folded sheetmetal got me...
thought it was a flattened pop can coming at me. Front tire stood it up to slice into center of rear tire.
1/8th mile later I realized something was very wrong.
I learned 2 things that morning:
1) my AAA recovery ins. does not cover "recreational vehicles"
2) Honda brought to America a scooter which has a uniquely sized rear tire.
The tow to the dealer, new (over-sized*) tire & installation was expensive > @$500.
Stig
* that slightly wider tire actually zeroed my speedo! It was no longer reading %10 fast....and I probably lost a bit of acceleration...but since I never ride WOT, I never noticed.
I also notice those nasty mirror extenders!...which means I had yet to discover that my son's Honda XB500 had the exact same mirrors but
with a longer stem! I bought a set & tossed the ugly billet things. That was the final mod this scoot needed to my mind!
PERFECT, now.
