Big winds ~ I usually take the best headlight, but....
« on: March 31, 2022, 02:24:44 PM »
I took the LIKE with it's 35/35W headlight (rather than the 55/60W Piaggio) because this was the last chance to get it out at least once during March.
I took it real easy. 24 hrs of strong winds and 29MPH headwind this morning was .....interesting!
Always prefer riding without a screen....no matter the temps. Always.
Esp. on big wind days.

I knew there'd be tree debris on the roads.

*winds blew my thick leather gloves off of the seat every time I stopped....laying in the road in the 2nd pic.

Windy, sub zero (c) temps, sleet & hail here in (now) sunny Yorkshire overnight. Not the weather for scootering!  Dogs enjoyed the 7 mile walk yesterday though.

Agh!  What's with riding without a windscreen?  Windscreens are one of God's greatest gifts to mankind! I wasted the best years of my youth riding without windscreens!  It's probably the single reason I only managed to sire 5 off-spring!

No offense taken.....but I  hate riding behind any significant windscreen. If I want to avoid the elements of nature, I'll take the bus. (and a wet, foggy screen to add to already challenged vision on  a rainy night ride???!!.....No way!)

Turbulence is a factor at my height in the saddle - with all but the tallest of screens.
And those monstrously tall screens -? No thank you.. I'd rather not look like a dental hygienist late for work in Brussels.

I never put the top up on my 67 Mustang in Mass winters either.
Love the elements!

Seriously. I'd put the top down then drive 26 miles from Amherst to Springfield, Mass, on I-91 for my work on the top floor of Springfield Hosp in the alcohol detox ward (lotta fun place to work! - try it sometime: give a combative drunken 65 yr old a shower...and into clean jammies)
Snow goes right over the top....and the heater! Man that heater getting to "exhale" like a sumb_ch on your feet with the top open!! Amazing.
All you need are gloves, scarf, and a hat - and you're toasty!....pretty much.
I'd put it up while at work - I'm not crazy. I don't sit in snow.

Good memories!

Glad to say no. It’s running like a dream if a bit of a strain on the wallet these days….
