strange prices for Kymcos

New scooter prices for Kymcos are all over the ballpark! ....$5,000 for a Spade!
 $8000 for a 550. And those can range up to $10,000

Where are you getting those numbers?  Kymco's website doesn't even show the Spade.  I doubt the MSRP will be higher than a Grom although OTD prices will be higher and vary by dealer.  The AK550 MSRP is $9,899 which is far lower than a TMax would sell for if they sold it here.  Shipping costs have skyrocketed for all bikes so the freight cost will be much higher for any new bike.

Per Kymcousa.com the last year for the Spade 150i was 2020... so far. And MSRP is $3399. I wouldn't bother with any dealer that tried to sell me a bike for more than MSRP (not counting the customary upcharges they tack on).

And the MSRP for the AK 550 was $8999 in early 2021 but went up $400 due to shipping cost increases by March so a 2021 AK 550 was $9399 for most of the year. And the 2022 AK 550 MSRP is $9899.

What ever dealer you are look at for prices I'd stay away... unless you are looking for an AK 550 and then I'd make sure they honor that $8000 price you mention. That would be bargain for a 2021 and especially for a 2022 new.

If you want to see prices all over the ballpark look at Honda... from a MSRP of $1807 for the Navi up to $28,500 for the Gold Wing Tour... and everywhere in between for other models. Just sorta keeping it within the criteria you established.

Yeah, prices for all the products range all over, but remain consistent for selected models and still reasonably priced when compared with other top brands.
Kind of strange to expect the price of a 150 scooter to be anywhere close to the price of a 550 scooter. Never known that to happen yet.

my local dealer has the 2021 Spade 150i advertised at $3599, and last time I was there they had one, but probably gone now,
they are advertising the AK550 at $9899

I've found that dealers who advertise a lower price than MSRP these days usually end up having much higher than average upcharges making the low price irrelevant. I found that out when asking about one from a dealer in Chicago. Slightly lower than MSRP but much higher upcharges (shipping, dealer prep, documentation, etc, etc, etc) making the OTD price higher than other places I called or emailed. There was only one place that advertised a slightly higher price than MSRP but when I asked while I was there taking a test ride they said all upcharges are included except the $129 documentation fees making the OTD price under $10,000 (the ONLY dealer where that was found). The only reason I didn't buy from them was that they low-balled the trade offer on my Burgman 650. The dealer I did go to advertised MSRP but gave me more for my Burgman than anyone else and also let me deal them down a few hundred on top of that... and they honored the military discount Kymco has going dropping the price even more.


The only dealers I know of that charge higher than MSRP (and one is the local Honda dealer) don't sell much... or like that dealer in Fort Smith I where I did my test ride bundle in most of the upcharges with their advertised price. That would be something worth investigating.

Most likely that would be Hall's Motorsports. Don't trust them. They play the bait-n-switch game. They have a few at some of the dozen stores all across the south but not all the stores. They will entice you to come in and then try to get you to look at other stock 'cuz they don't have the AK 550. And if they do have one they tack on such high upcharges that the OTD price is close to $11,000 anyway. This from others who have looked at them for the AK or have other dealings with them in other locations. I emailed them about the AK at one point last fall.

Yeah it was them.   It seemed too good to be true.   I'm way too far away to bite anyways.
