10 min oil change - 1 hour wash~!
« on: April 22, 2022, 05:47:05 PM »
Crazy easy to change the oil in a LIKE200i.
Used the last of my Castrol and a Toyota washer.
Then sprayed orange degreaser up under things...let it soak then went after it all with sponges and brushes.
A soft long bristled house brush works great for getting into all the nooks and crannies....shock springs and wheels !

While I'm down here crawling around I empty the puke toob, check the brake pads and re-set the slide pins so they don't freeze up. (the braided brake lines which Kymco used on these scooters is a deluxe feature ! AMAZING brakes on these scooters!)

After it's dry - apply ACF-50!

it's pretty impressive how nice your scoots look after all the 'all foul season' riding you do! Other than tires, have you ever even worn anything out? Brake pads?

This is my 10th summer coming up with this scooter. Purchased new.
May have worn out the clutch....it started acting up. so, rather than keep my new spare another 8 years in the drawer, waiting, I put it in before it rotted.
Brake pads are about 40% worn. At my ave. of 34mph ---- not much stress on brakes...I could stop with my Keds!
No bulbs burned out yet. I replace the belt and Dr P's & Iridium every couple 3 or 4 yrs  just because.
Oil every 800 miles on average.
Adjust the valves every 2000 miles. Brakes flushed twice.
Put first set of Michelins on when scooter was a few weeks old. I'm on the 2nd set now. Love the City Grips!

If it ever gets really stupid and becomes unreliable - as much as I love it - I'll sell it .
The times of the year I ride - and times of the day - and remote areas - I need reliability!

Had a meeting to attend last night which finished just after darkness had fallen. I was on the X-Town and had forgotten just how pleasant a ride at that time of night can be. Usually when I’m allowed out after dark it’s with the good lady or my daughter riding shotgun!

Take your point about reliability though Stig, it was getting just the chilly side of comfortable by the time I rolled onto the drive.  Must do this more often…
Plus, “no pics, didn’t happen”?  Here’s the time stamped proof:

Now, was that actually sunset?
Civil Twilight?
Nautical Twilight?
or Astronomical Twilight?

Those time differences can be almost 2 hours different.

I can confirm, the sun had set. Still lovely sunset colours in the sky so not yet dark.  Perfect biking conditions!
