NSR: WHAT a Derby!!!
« on: May 08, 2022, 12:17:36 AM »
NBC does a good job presenting America's greatest race every May....the Kentucky Derby!
Once again - an anything can happen race!
2nd longest shot in history wins,  fastest first quarter in history ....and a $30K horse takes it after a last minute scratch gets him into the field!
Great stuff.

Why was the horse biting the other one? Probably drugged up.

I myself am more of a nascar person. One thing I would like to have on my bucket list is to see a horse race in person.

This was probably my favorite race of all time.  80-1 Would like to have had $10,000 on that horse. I love to see underdogs win.

I have watched harness racing in person, they used to have it at the local fair, but some reason, stopped a while ago,

I used to follow Nascar, nearly 50 years ago, but racing as a spectator sport, does not excite me as much now

Got a choice of 3 major tracks within 50 miles of where I live and you know what?  I've never been!

Derby Day here too next month - that'll be on the Epsom Downs though, not Kentucky!  Maybe HM the Q will get a winner at long last to mark her Jubilee?

Herself owns and enters a horse in this?
Is this the horse race over shrubs, ponds, food carts, playground equipment, dogs and children?!
I love that one!
(do the horses ever attack their riders afterwards - for having subjected them to this craziness?)

No, you’re thinking of the Grand National at Aintree, Liverpool, the Derby is on the flat I think. And yes, the Queen owns and enters her own horses. She’s judged to have an excellent knowledge of form and training!
