Semi-synthetic Oil Price
« on: May 08, 2022, 07:48:04 AM »
Needed to buy my first supply of Motul semi-synthetic 10/40 oil since 2020 and was expecting a shock to the wallet!  In fact at £26 and change it was £3 cheaper for 5 litres. Go figure.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

@Neil, why semi-syntetic? Is it spec for your model?
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

Probably not, but it is for my Triumph so, one container does both!

Neil, is your Triple a derivative of the Triumph Trident,  and the BSA Rocket....Bikes I first saw at my dealer in the late 60's, I  think it was in Texas...?
Those two were beautiful....one of them was teal green I think. And one red?

Not a direct lineage Tom.  The 60’s Triumphs were made in Meriden (BSA Small Heath) and both firms went into liquidation in, I think, the 70’s. A guy called John Bloor who made his cash building houses in the UK and bought all Triumph rights and patents in the 80’s. He set up a factory at Hinkley, Leicestershire and began production early 90’s?  Bought my first Hinckley Triumph, a 900 Sprint in the mid-90’s. Owned various models in an unbroken line since then.

Every one I’ve owned has been a triple, mainly the 900s with the last one being a smaller 675R. Love ‘em!

I remember looking at my first big Yamaha twin. Air-cooled,  pretty certain. It was beautifully reverse engineered from a Triumph. Probably had more accurate tooling, and maybe was a better bike for it? No point reinventing the wheel, I  guess......
No heritage, though.

Japanese were becoming known for real quality products in those days.
