posting a few ride pics from my gopro
« on: May 13, 2022, 07:46:24 PM »
Finally got my new gopro hooked up and mounted on the left handlebar and video'd my ride on Wed. I took a few still shots off the film to try to give a sense of what it looks like where I ride on the back highways in East Central Iowa.

These pics were taken on the way North from Iowa City up toward Anamosa. It's hard to convey how beautiful the countryside is in pics...but here's a few shots for those of you who have no idea what the Iowa countryside looks like!

Dang, the last time I saw roads so clean and unblemished was in Arizona. I am assuming that the free-thaw action is much greater here than in Iowa or else our road crews absolutely suck but 6mos after repaying, our roads need another fixin. That looks like great riding.

haha...we do have a lot of straight roads...most typically run straight north-south or east-west....but there are some nice curves if you know where to look

Those rain grooves give you any fits on two wheels?

I bet that was one smooth ride, here in Missouri our roads are full of potholes due to the neglected maintenance and constant winter snow.

don't even feel them on the motorcycle...now, on my Helix, when I put the new Heidenau tires on, man, those rain grooves owned me! It was really disconcerting for a while, I'd be riding thinking 'why are my bars being pulled all over the place'?...then I'd realize it was the rain grooves.  Now, i don't even notice the rain grooves on the Helix...kind of like riding in the wind..keep a really loose grip and don't fight it.

We also have a bad freeze-thaw around here and we also have our share of bad roads. The direction I head out (North - Northeast) seems to have the newest, smoothest roads. I'm always on the lookout for smooth twisties and will completely avoid the cracked up, potholed roads.
