450i UXV more fixes
« on: May 20, 2022, 04:58:06 AM »
Speedo started acting up, noticed it kicks off after about 2 miles and works again if you let it sit for 30 minutes. Should be an easy replacement or a quick cleaning..

but since i got this thing it has only started in N, it wont turn over even with the brake or parking brake engaged in R, L or H.

What would be the fix or the issue with only starting in N? electrical?

not starting in gear is probably just an adjustment of the brake light switch, I know that sometimes, mine doesn't turn over till I press on the brake harder

I agree, veey firm pressure on brake pedal before starter will engage!!  With enough pressure it should start in any gear, my 2015 does.

A couple years back my speedo started acting up like yours.  I pulled the speed sensor and cleaned it and the electrical connector.
It then worked for a short while, but started going haywire after a couple months once again. Finally just bought another sensor (54 bucks) andbit has been fine since.  From my readingbthese seem to go out every couple/ few years, but that has been my only issue so no complaints here!!!

Just back up to something and apply the brakes, the lights are bright you will see when they come on.  The switch is attched to the brke pedal arm, just behind the firewall.  The switch is threaded so it can be adjusted in and out for tension.

Removed the sensor, cleaned and went for 3 miles, it shut off again but I ordered an ebay replacement, its not built for the Kymco, I think it was a RZR 2011-19 speed sensor but body wise and 3 prong it looks exactly the same for 1/10th the price. They want 133$ for the Kymco 500 version. So im hoping they are compatible. I will update later

Wow....the 450i speed sensor was only 54 with shipping, I have heard the ArticCat 500 version was over 100 bucks. AC has definetly upped their prices when compared to Kymco. The company I recomended "Leesons" also uses Ebay to sell parts from.

Call " Leesons Artic Cat" and see what they have.  They are a Kymco dealer, been great to deal with.  A google search will bring up all their info.
